Welcome Car Salou Spain

We have rent Ford Fiesta with my friends in July 2012 with Welcome car in Salou and actually that was our first car rental experience, so we were quite nervous (even more when we read the other reviews on this website - but I also believe that if people are satisfied with the servise they will less likely to write any review than those who are not satisfied - so we are here the first) that this organization could somehow treat us in an unfair way. But, surprizingly, we were given back our 100 Euro deposit and everything was OK. How was all of this done:

we rented the car for 2 days

when signing the agreement we insisted the manager (even when we had so called "Full insurance" for extra 20 Euros per day) to mark all the scratches on the scheme, he told that there is no need for this because we paid for insurance, but, anyway, we insisted to do this

they took extra 100 Euro deposit for tyres, but finally we were lucky to get this back, because everything was OK with them

So, my advise, even if it looks very obvious, again is:

pay for the FULL insurance in order to avoid any problems and risks

insist to mark ALL the visible scratches and other problems in the agreement and spend the needed amount of time to inspect your car before the departure

always drive carefully :)

For a small scratch on driver's door, they told us, that we must to pay 100 euros to paint the door! I think they ( welcome car) made this scratch by them selves, because I use this car very carefully.

Do not rent a car in this company!

Picked up a small light scratch (2 inches) on front bumper whilst parking. Made to pay 150 euros to replace bumper! Rather rent from reputable agencies at Reus airport. Stay away.

They do not respect CDW insurance that comes with Gold Visa. You would have to buy their CDW insurance which has 300 euros deductable. There are good chances someone will leave a scratch on your car while it is parked, which happened to me.

I hired a car from Welcome Car - Salou, When I collected the car there was quite bad damage to the front wing which was pointed out to me and marked on the contract. When I returned the car they seemed quick to point out a stone chip in the windscreen which was not coved by the insurance and was almost impossible to see from inside the car as it was behind the mirror. The fact that the windscreen was not covered by insurance was not pointed out at the time of hire and cost me another €200. I think I was ripped off but cannot prove it. I just wonder how many other tourist are conned by this scam. Beware hire a car from a major company.
