As from 2010, Swansea car hire Malta have changed their name to Active Car Rental. The new name thrives on the philiospohy that constant fprogress and search of new efficient methods to improve service are essential to provide great value car hire at low cost.

The car condition was quite good and the lady that brought us the car was very helpful. Everything was fine, until we returned the car...

There was a representative at the airport, but for some reason he didn't want to check the car condition upon return. We had to force him to inspect the car and verify that there was no damage or scratch.

Then one of the female representatives that had brought us the car, told us there was a speeding ticket we had to pay. This was very odd, since we were very careful with the speed(we had a GPS that gave warnings). The lady then changed her mind and it was a traffic light violation. I gave her my card information but asked to receive the picture from the police that we violated the traffic light and the date of the violation to be shown on the ticket.

It was even funnier because on the way back to airport we got overtaken by a crazy fast car that was driven by -guess who- the representative that told us we had a speeding ticket...

When I returned back to my country I received an email that they made a mistake with the ticket and they wouldn't charge us the cost for the ticket, but they had forgotten to charge extra driver and they made the charge on my Credit Card. I told them that when I received the car, the lady marked the fee for the extra driver on the contract and that I had paid for it when I received the car. It turns out, as the lady was filling the form, she filled the fee for extra driver in the box for delivery and pick-up of the car. Now everything would have been ok, if they had informed us that there was such a fee when making booking or signing the contract, which I wouldn't mind paying. After a long debate and since they did not have my signature for the charge on the card, they returned the money.

In the end, I feel that the representatives of SeaSwan/Active Car Rentals are not being honest with you and they try to charge you fees after leaving Malta so that it's harder for you to claim your money back.

1)Speeding ticket that turned into a traffic violation, that turned out to be a mistake after all.

2)Representative that did not want to check vehicle's condition upon return.

3)Confusing you with fees and charging you with fees that you were not informed of.

All in all a very good experience, and we will certainly use Malta Taxi Online again next year.
