Bad Company

We have used Autoone numberous times a year over the last few year. Recommended them to other family and friends coming to Italy. This time we were disgusted with the service and scam/con that they are running. When i booked on the main voucher it says a valid credit card in the main drivers name, which i had, but when they saw it they said they don't accept the card as it isn't a main UK bank credit card, this specific card has been accepted by yourselves before, last time was i think in May this year. Then they went on to say that they only accept embossed Credit cards, most bank cards in the UK are not embossed. So instead of paying 197 for the car they wanted over 900 for it, I went through all my cards and i had one which was a main bank, she then told me that i could pay 700 and they would accept this card as it was a main bank, at the time she had me in such a state, when i said i have £895 free on this card she said it wasn't enough as i needed €900, when in fact there enough on this card with the exchange rate. The lady kept saying you don't have €900 free on any credit card we will accept. She then said she will do me a favour and only charge me €591.60 and only €400 excess. By now she had confused me so much i agreed as i needed a car. It wasn't till we had left that we realised we had been conned as the credit card she accepted might have been a major bank in the UK but it wasn't embossed. So we had been lied to as they now accepted an unembossed credit card.

We hire cars about 4 times in Italy a year, but I will never hire from you again after this service and being conned by the people in the office in Naples.

The car we had within 4 hrs of getting it the battery in the key didn't work so we had to buy a new battery so we could get into the car. The rear view camera stayed on sometimes after reversing, the 1st time we reported an incident the office didn't want to know.

I booked two cars online months in advance

I booked two cars online months in advance, under two different names. When I arrived at the rental desk—after struggling to find it, since they had changed location without any notice—I was told that only one booking existed, even though I had confirmation and was charged for both. They blamed the missing booking on an online broker error and said they couldn’t do anything. I still haven’t received a refund.

They offered me another car for nearly three times the original price, which I had to refuse. On top of that, they took advantage of the stressful situation and added an extra insurance I didn’t request, charging me €185. To make things worse, they expect customers to walk nearly 1 km to reach the cars. Very poor experience overall.
