It is giving do you spain rental a bad name too having such sham artists as their partners. Please stay away!!! 

My €650 euros are taken and I have lodged a complaint with the local authorities and we also have a petition to shut this company down on facebook.

After having a 6 for cars days and not even using it. Gave car back fine has they have to me. My insurance has been taken and not gave back after calls and calls…..! With video clip to show the car was ok and a sign paperwork they still not paid my money insurance back….! This is not good to show how to run a company. Taken my money and kept saying we pay back tomorrow or two days or looking right now.

We hired a car from Active Car Rental in Malta at the end of May. The car they provided was a Peugeot 107. It was completely full of body damage. We were advised to take photos of all the marks and that is exactly what we did. When arriving home from Malta we received an email stating that we had damage the car (which we definitely did not) and they were claiming 344 euros out of our car insurance. We have emailed them telling them quite categorically that the car was already damaged but we have had no reply. We even sent them of the damage before we drove it out of the car park. They have taken the money out of our credit card. It seems they have a habit of doing this to people as since then I have noticed other people have had the same experience with ACTIVE CAR RENTAL. DO NOT TOUCH THEM> Go with someone who is reputable and don't put the Maltese people light.

Ist Car rental refusing to refund the unauthorised second payment they have taken.The fact their agent has gone bust not our problem they think they can just keep using our credit card Not now we have cancelled card.What a way to treat your customers

We have been completely ripped of by this company. We read the reviews on line of car hire in malta and all the reviews commented on not being able to use a full tank of petrol on such a small island. So we found active car hire who offered half a tank of fuel and a second driver free. When we collected the car we were told that that offer was discontinued 3 months ago. We had a car rental voucher which very clearly stated that we only pay for half a tank of fuel and second driver free but they refused to honour it, the company representative even said that if we buy cheap car insurance on line we should expect to get ripped off. I wrote to the company on my return and they said that the internet booking company had been informed of the change 3 months ago but were not displaying it, so basically they are in dispute with the internet booking site, car trawler, and the customer is expected to bear the cost of it. It cost me 250 euros for a weeks hire of a fairly old battered car.

Beware of Active Car Rental. Read the small print. They make you pay for half a tank of gas and then if you return it with gas they refuse to give you money back, so they sell the gas you paid for to the next customer. They have it all put there in the small print, but I was not expecting it. It is a small island, we hardly used the car, in 10 days we did about 70km, so returned the car with most of the gas still in it. When I asked for a refund they gave the reason "we had had plenty of time to use the gas" as the reason for not giving any money back.

Active car rental were recommended to us by some friends who visit Malta regularly. It was the first time we travelled to Malta and really loved the place. We normally rent through Budget since we have their prefered card but we decided to book with Active becuase they were anyway cheaper and came highly recommended.

We collected the car from their desk at the Intercontinental which is where we were staying which was very convenient. We were given a brand new Ford Fiesta and the lady that rented us the car was very helpful and friendly.

The car ran fine, however we did have a flat tire towards the end of the rental, so we called their road assistance number and they arrived within twenty minutes to swap the tyre themselves!

We were impressed especially considering that we only paid around 50 euro for the 4 day rental! We will definetely recommend Active car rental and use them again whenever we are in Malta.

We booked a last minute holiday to Malta and hired a car through Malta car bookers website. The site compared the top local car companies and we received a car from Active car rental which we picked up from their desk at Malta airport (the only local firm with an airport desk which was re-assuring after our previously disappointing experience with a local firm).

The car (a brand new Fiesta) cost less than a 100 euro for a week including half a tank of fuel and comprehensive insurance. The service was friendly and the car ran perfectly, just what we needed to discover the island.

The website was user friendly and all the optional extras where clearly indicated on the website without any hidden extras.

Will definitely use Active again and would not hesitate in recommending them.
