My father booked his car with Europcar to be collected from Faro Airport. He visits every year for approx. 8 weeks. He always pre pays takes out the additional insurance. This year "A very pleasant young man" asked him if he would like an upgrade as there was a promotion. My father said yes as no charge was mentioned. “Waited 3 hours at Faro Airport for a pre booked rental...”

We booked car for pick up at 3.00pm and waited in a queue at Faro Airport for over 2.5 hours and we were the 45th booking in the queue waiting to be seen - despite using the faster booker service. I have never in 40 years of travelling waited as long as this for a pre booked and prepaid hire car. Outrageous. “NIGHTMARE if you return car with a small scratch on car...”

Returning a car with EUROCAR in JOBURG is always an unpleasant affair. they always try to get more money out of you, either they find an obscure scratch or the car is too dirty and they want to charge me extra etc etc etc... it is abusive . EUROPCAR Johannesburg Airport Administration staff are the worse I ever had to deal with...I return the car with a small scratch on the wheel hub cap... weeks later they sent me an invoice for 350$ for the repairs... ????!!!! Avoid them. I rent a car with a dealer with them. I came to Paphos, the staff is so rude in there, they asked 1800 euro deposit, I asked why?? They told me. 900 excess and 900 if someone is stealing the car. I called the police because in my policy was written 900 euro. The girl from there, was so rude, she told me to go aways, I told them I will call the television also i spent a night with a baby in the airport to sleep. Picked up car from Las Palmas Airport, received terrible service from the start. waited ages to be served probably because they were trying to get the people in front to upgrade. Received paperwork and key and told the sign for the damage before even seeing the car! Picked it up from designated bay no representative from Europcar to meet us (we were told there would be) Couldn't see much of the body work as the underground car park was dimly light. “Car Rental”

Do not use this company. They are dishonest and bend every rule to try and make you responsible for minute marks on the car that you did not make and did not even see on delivery. If you use these people (inadvisable) make sure you photograph every scratch, wheel rim and mark on the car. The worst hire company that I have ever has the dis-pleasure of using. “Charging money for nothing”

I have rented a car with Europcar France at Nice airport in July 2018. To start with, the queue was about 2 hours long. The car was good but nothing special, Hyundai i-20. When I was returning the car the woman inspecting the car found a mini-scratch on a wheel trim. It was really tiny and I claim I had nothing to do with it. I rented a car from Heathrow Europcar. I've done this before and they always push you to buy VERY expensive ad-ons. This time, though, they just stuck a HUGE charge on and convinced me it was a refundable deposit. But it was for a service I hadn't requested or needed. “Poor customer service”

The rental was fine. While returning the car, a small chip was noticed on the front rim. The chip was the size of a two pence. I was advised that there may be a small fee for repair. I received a charge of 100EUR for this chip, even though I paid extra for the insurance. My fault for not knowing that wheels are not included. 100EUR seems excessive for a small chip and Europcar saying the wheel needed to be replaced. This is a review of car rental experience starting June 8th in Nice with drop-off in Paris on June 23rd or thereabouts. I have pursued Europcar for what I believe is grossly unfair treatment and have exhausted avenues with them since then. My concerns are not just with their service but with their dismissive attitude towards customer complaints. Terrible service, no interest in the customer. Check engine light came on, no one interested in making sure the car was ok despite having to drive on motorways with two small children, which wouldn't be the best place to have a breakdown. Arrived on Sun at T4 and only Europcar open. Requested small car with GPS and was told that for the extra charge we would be better getting a bigger car with inbuilt GPS at only slightly more cost. At the pickup depot the operator loaded the first address but on freeway found it did not work. Bought a local SIM and used phone for rest of trip. the customer service was awful & the complaints system is worse. we recently hired a car from reus airport having booked over the phone to accommodate 6 passengers plus luggage, the car was not suitable but as we didn't have far to go we coped with the luggage issues. we were told that we could drop the car back at 4pm on the paperwork but in passing the guy mentioned 2pm so we made sure we were back by 2 (even though the paperwork stated to return to the airport, which we tried). on arrival… Read Full Review

What a terrible company. I wish I could give Europcar a lower rating. NEVER rent from this company. Highly unethical business practices. I got a flat tire in the middle of nowhere and, of course, the rental car had no spare tire. While not technically illegal, I would consider this negligence as I was stranded for over 5 hours. “Avoid Europcar at all costs”

We just returned our car to Alicante airport and were accused of damaging the car. There was apparently some damage underneath the car. We were told to look for scratches bigger than about 10cm. We were not told to shine a torch around the bottom underside of the car. The damage must have been there and they failed to spot it. I did not crash the car. Disgusting company to do business with. Hired a long wheel base van online turned up to collect and it was a medium meaning I couldn't fit all the stuff in so have to do another 480mile round trip. The van had an engine management light on with an oil warning light. We hired a car in Ireland for 3 days, through the website. The price on the website was 200 euro. When arrived in the airport, they asked us: - 35 euro more for some kind of permission in order to travel to Northern Ireland (I guess I would have replied directly no if my intention was to leave Ireland) - 30 euro per day for some kind of insurance otherwise they would have taken 1500 euro of deposit (in this way only 250) - 70 euro for the fuel deposit When back, they found a really small… Read Full Review

“Experiences Hiring In France”

We have hired via Europcar several times while visiting France, the latest being from Narbonne Railway Station where we were given an upgraded car.
