Scotties Car Rental, New ZealandOur first Prius was dirty on collection and the girl who gave us the car did not explain how to start the car, which was very specific and we had issues starting it which caused us delays on a few occasions. We then called and spoke to your Auckland office after the key fob stopped working and we were unable to lock the car, we were told to to just replace the battery and it would work fine. Also the car did not respond to just the key, we replaced the battery but still did not work.This was not acceptable as we then had to drive the car to your Queenstown branch from Te Anu at our cost so we could get it repaired. When we called your Auckland office about the issue a man told us on the phone that your office was next to Queenstown Airport, this was not the case as you are a long drive away. On arriving,the office was locked during office hours, we had to hunt around until we found someone to sort out the key fob, which they could not do so they gave us a different car.

Within in a few days of getting the second car, issues started to occur. I emailed you and go too response as no one picked up the phone to answer our call in Queenstown., I also tried to call your office for two hours and no one answered the phone during opening hours as per your website. Again we had to drive the car from Te Anu with certain lights on the dashboard still on. When we arrived at the queenstown branch for the second time, the offices were wide open but no one was there, there was a mobile phone left on the desk and when we called the queenstown number the phone on the desk rang. We waited until a girl finally showed up. She took the car for a test drive and could not say what was wrong so gave us a different car.

We had to drive a car with engine, oil and other lights on, our driving holiday was ruined as every car we got had issues.

Sadly, we spent too much of our short holiday time driving for hours to your office in Queenstown, this took away valuable time from our holiday.

We really feel that the cars were sub standard and in the second case potentially unsafe. We feel that you should compensate us for ruining part of our holiday. i look forward to your response.
