The cost of hire car in Austria is so expensive. Why?

You need to give discount for customer loyalty. It appears the hire companies have an agreement between themselves which you may describe as a cartel. Is there an European car hire Ombudsman overseeing the industry. Oh and the value for money selection on this survey wouldn't allow me to to say it was not good value!!!!

All was OK but we booked a large sedan car (Skoda Superb or similar) which was not available. We were with a group of 4 with suitcases and in the end got a compact stationwagon. All fitted but it was smaller than the category booked.

I got the.... We can upgrade you.... No thanks but also offer the car that I had reserved. I find this very annoying. Car hire companies must have a finite list of vehicles when you reserve your vehicle. I was pleased to see winter tyres fitted as standard which should be given but not always.

Car return was easy and check off really efficient with pleasant staff.
