I paid for the ‘mega’ relax cover which adds about 900% to the booking charge but I understand rates of £2/day are not real world and having gone through the terms and conditions think this should be ok. There is huge emphasis placed on the expensive protections, from cancellation to worse on this package.
Ironically you are better paying the £2/day rate or even better avoiding them.
Flight from Newcastle to Barcelona running 2 hours late due to storms but expecting to land at 11pm with 1 hour to spare before office close. I advise customer service I will be there but they are uninterested at best. Before landing the flight is diverted to to Toulouse and lands in France at midnight. On immediately calling Gokdcar to say I will be there the following day to collect I’m told the booking is now cancelled and the entire charge for the full length of the trip (including all those very expensive protections) that are not actually anything to do with the physical vehicle are charged in full for the full length of the contract. even better I am not allowed to collect the car any more at any point and need to make a complete new booking. Sort of like paying for 2 week in an expensive Hotel, arriving slightly late and being told somebody else is now having the holiday you’re paying for for the next 2 weeks.
