Initially we had good experiences from Goldcar starting about 10 years ago, but they changed their policy and now are not worth your time, since they try and sham you as a customer. As we discovered, if you decline their extra insurance they will go out of their way to find flaws in the car when you return it and charge you for those repairs. In the end, you will be charged more than if you had rented from one of the big name agents. Our most recent rental involved a car that already had lots of dents and scratches on it, and we tried to ensure that all of the dents were documented on their chart of pre-existing damage. But honestly there were too many to photograph, and of course the lighting in the pickup garage is poor. Their evil trick is that they will find items that you don't know to check up front. So for example, they claimed damage to the wheel rims, that the antenna was missing, and what was a very minor scuff mark on the door mirror casing, which wasn't marked on the damage sheet. Having been the only driver of the car, knowing where it was driven and parked, I'm 100% confident that these were all pre-existing items for the car. I'll obviously dispute the extra charges, and maybe my credit card insurance will cover it anyway, but it's really just easier to avoid using Goldcar and avoid any extra expenses or hassle..
