I rented a car for 7 weeks and pick-up and drop-off were great. Fairly new car from SNAP in NZ at a fantastic price. I am very happy with that. Top notch. Next time I know where to find you.

Stay away and be careful to use discovercars

I had a very disappointing and alarming experience with this company and would strongly advise others to be cautious and stay away.

Despite having booked and fully paid for a rental car in advance, the company refused to reimburse me when I arrived late due to a flight delay—even though they had my flight details when I made the reservation. Their policy apparently allows them to keep your money while providing no car if you arrive after their cutoff time.

What makes this even more unreasonable is that they expect customers to call or notify them from the airplane if a delay might cause a late arrival. In reality, that is often impossible during travel disruptions, especially while still in transit.

When I filed a complaint, the response consisted mainly of standard template phrases such as “try to file a complaint with the airline,” “we always treat our customers professionally,” and “we understand how stressful travel delays can be.” Unfortunately, these statements were not accompanied by any meaningful effort to resolve the issue or take responsibility.

In short, the company kept the payment, did not deliver the reserved car, and showed no willingness to address the situation fairly.

My clear advice: stay away from this provider.

Great service

Firstly, the price I received before going on vacation was great. Much cheaper than I saw anywhere else. I booked a car from Goldcar. That was unfortunately a mistake. After my vacation I received notice that there were scratches on the car and i suddenly had to pay for it. About 900 dollars. Goldcar is such a bad rental company, they took months to calculate the claims etc. Suddenly they just charged my credit card. I contacted Discovercars where we booked the car initially and took an additional insurance. And although more than 3 months had passed for submitting the claim due to Goldcar, she still helped me. She took on our case and restituted the full amount that Goldcar charged me. That is what I call great service. Even though they could have said i didn’t meet the conditions anymore and they would have been right, they still helped me. That is what I call great service! Discovercars is highly recommended!

Service refused due to misleading information at booking

I booked and paid in advance for a car rental through DiscoverCars (booking D011697662), with pickup scheduled in Milan on 28/12/2025. At the pickup location, the car was refused because I did not have an International Driving Permit. The issue is not the supplier’s requirement itself, but the fact that this mandatory condition was not clearly disclosed at the time of booking. In the voucher provided by DiscoverCars, the wording stated that an International Driving Permit “might also be required”, which suggests an optional or conditional requirement. However, in practice, the absence of this document resulted in an automatic refusal of service. I arrived on time, with valid documentation, but the service I had paid for was not provided and the booking was later classified as a “no-show”, which does not reflect what actually happened. As a direct consequence, I was left without a car at the airport and had to rent another vehicle immediately at a much higher cost, resulting in significant financial loss (EUR 2.6k). I attempted to resolve the issue directly with DiscoverCars multiple times, providing all requested documentation, but the company refused any refund or compensation. This experience highlights a serious lack of clarity in pre-contractual information and poor handling of customer issues when problems arise.

This is a service I would not recommend at all, rather stay away !!! My reservation made through discovercars.com was canceled by one of the agencies Localiza. This was of course upsetting, but as this was a cancelation made by the agency, I naively believed that it would qualify for a refund and made a claim to discovercars.com. To address my issue, I booked a second car through a different leasing company, and discovercars.com confirmed the reservation. When I arrived at the rental agency, they only had small cars instead of the size I reserved. The agency did not understand how I had been able to reserve a different car as they had been fully booked for some time (days). Seems like discovercars.com sold be a product they did not have or could offer ! Again, upsetting as we were 4 adults with each our suitcase - how to fit? As the option was a small car or nothing, and with some creative solutions we accepted the car. However, we again turned to discovercar.com for them to refund the difference in price of the car we had reserved and the one that we ended up getting. To our surprise they offered a 60% refund on the car that was canceled by the agency with 40% in credits for the next lease we will make. I do not understand nor accept a solution as I believe a cancelation made by the rental agency should qualify for a full refund. Furthermore, the offer did not include any refund for the second car where we were downgraded. It has been two weeks since the incident and they are apparently still considering our case! Outrageous, what kind of customer service is this?

A company that complies with bad companies.

My complaint was never properly reviewed. Although my credit card met the stated rental conditions, it was rejected by the rental company AddCar, while a “solution” required paying 100 MAD per day in cash — despite being told cash was not accepted. Extremely disappointing and confusing experience with both DiscoverCars and AddCar.

Has anyone found someone in customer support that is able to assist with an existing case? I am having an issue filing a claim and it appears no one at Discover cars is available to engage or escalate at this point. We had a not so great experience with the rental car vendor (America Cars in Mexico) and they will not release the final invoice for the damage of a popped tire. They do not deny that the damage occurred, or that we were covered by Discover Cars, and I do have the receipt and bank account statement. They just are not providing the final invoice. They are claiming that this is our own fault for booking with Discover Cars as opposed to purchasing insurance directly from them. Discover Cars will not refund without the final invoice. Has anyone encountered this before? Any tips to resolve? Seems odd that Discover Cars would partner with a vendor that will not cooperate in getting them what they need to provide a customer what they paid for (insurance that covers a flat).
