My recent experience with gold car was disappointing . I found the attitude of the staff bordering on rude. After arriving on an early flight I found the car very hard to find after being given poor directions from gold car staff. This added an hour on to the journey. The extra £130 on insurance which was announced at the pick up point was a complete surprise. After booking on line with Auto Europe and paying insurance then, I was told that gold car didn’t recognise this insurance as I hadn’t booked through their website. I was given a choice of either paying for extra insurance or putting a deposit on my credit card for over a £1000. As my faith in gold car’s service was now diminished I felt I had no choice but to pay up. If second party websites are being used by companies to sell their goods they should at least understand what the customer has already paid for, which gold car denied any knowledge of.
