Happy Numpty
I have used this company for a few years now and rarely have any technical problems with their service.
I used to be with a company I think used pigeon post to reply to requests so this company is a joy.
Being a techno numpty it sometimes appears that they are answering a different question to the problem I have asked about but that could be because I don't know the cause of the problem so the answers may be relevant. In any event they do not give up and have never let me down.

It is getting better and looks like they want to give a better customer experience. I had some issues in the past that made me go from one staff member to another but it looks like that now each member has more knowledge and are able to find solutions quickly

£12 Plus Vat Per Annum For A One Site One Email Account!
I have been using one of the £12 plus VAT per year accounts for several months and have found it superior in several ways to other accounts I have had over the last few years.
I also conducted a comparison for a fairly large site between 123reg and planethippo.
I found planet hippo to be far better and this is with respect to cost, performance and facilities.
I recently needed a new web site for a charity and so I started another separate account for that.
The only issue I had with the initial set up was to be able to set up to use PHP 7.1. PlanetHippoSupport sorted that out within a few hours and my Joomla web site is now ready for me to build up. It seemed odd that this was a problem since the account I had already did not have that issue. So that is something to look out for.
I have looked at the some of the reviews here with horror stories and all I can say is that in all the extensive use I have made of these accounts I have never seen any issues.

I actually used this exact site when contemplating going with planet hippo. I saw the bad reviews but figured if the average review score 4 and a half out of 5 stars I should give them a chance.... I shouldn't.
Constant 500 errors rendered my sites incredibly unstable. After extensive research I discovered this was indeed not anything to do with my code but planet hippos servers.
The actually main planet hippo site has also constantly got debugging error messages visible for all to see. At one point there were so many errors the site was inoperable.
Also bought a domain on 1/2/2017 and by 11/2/2017 it was showing as still pending transfer. I raised a support ticket and after a full 24 hours I was asked to supply an invoice number (something they could easily have checked themselves. This then highlighted that they hadn't charged me properly and so they promptly raised a new invoice and asked me to pay before doing anything else.
This whole operation reeks of incompetence and unprofessionalism. Avoid at all costs.

I tried Planet Hippo for two months and it didn't take anywhere near that long to discover how useless their services are.
You certainly get what you pay for.
Constant Error 500's not only on our sites, but also on their own front end.
Their own site has been hacked.
They provide no way of removing a credit card from file.
They automatically charge your credit card BEFORE they inform you that they will.
They provide no way of altering your domain's registered email as they have failed to update their WHMCS. This has remained the case for two months with a 'feature deprecated' error. I have told them what they need to do but have chosen not to fix this essential feature. The service provided does not meet the ICANN minimum requirements for domain management.
They choose to charge for outbound domain transfers 'sometimes'. Seems somewhat hit and miss.
In short, you will receive a headache for your troubles. I STRONGLY suggest you avoid this provider at all cost as they are, at best, unreliable.

Worst Company For Hosting - Avoid At All Costs
My experience with planet hippo started off well, problems were dealt with quickly until November 2016 when it went downhill, Servers started going down, connections were slow, yet all the answers i got were its fixed try it now.
No explaination of what happened, considering i am on a reseller program with clients, its important that the sites are up all the time. One of these is a radio station broadcasting live, and this is where it gets really annoying.
The servers went down 3 times in November, then again in December, now they have gone down again, in all 5 times in you can say 2 months as its only the 3rd of the new month today.
Yes it was looked at, but despite me trying to call them and having the phone ringing non stop for 46 mins 55 sec i gave up.
They never answer the phone and i said this to them at 13.25
"I have been trying to call you for the last 31 mins and its still ringing, i need to discuss this situation and the others, because i cannot allow this to continue to happen and i need to discuss how we move forward, just saying its fixed is not good enough, especially if i want to keep my contracts. can you please answer the phone or provide me with your head office number and i will talk to someone there please."
I then said to them at 13.35
This is now 43 mins its been ringing why are you not picking up the call
This is now 14.21 and still no reply.
If the directors of Planet Hippo want to keep their customers or gain new ones, then they should improve communications and get people to answer the phone. Because of this 5th time down i may now lose the radio client.
I would hope they would have the decency to reply to this here, and provide me with a proper number to contact one of the directors on to discuss this, as so far their standard number is no use whatsoever. After this i cannot say they are any good anymore because they have gone down in my estimation. i HAVE EVEN FOUND OUT THEIR SUPPORT IS IN INDIA. The MD does not abide by their own SLA and makes up their own rules.

The Good Reviews Are Fake.
AVOID, An absolutely awful company it took 6 days to register a domain, their own website is full of errors and sites are always going down.

One Of The Worst Hosting Companies
1 word would define them: Amateurs. Gave them my trust because they had the 24/7 chat support. Useless. They can't address problems right, or give satisfactory answers. Many times servers down. For short periods of time, sometimes for longer. And when asked them about the reasons, received unbelievable answers. Started moving my websites from them.
