Don't Be Fooled By Their Pricing

I have had a Windows VPS with EpicHosts for around a year now. It's always been slow, support has mostly been naff, and it has had it's problems over the year, but I've put up with it because it's cheap. However the VPS has got worse recently, with the company having inadequate support responses, and in general just not feeling like the specs they claim. Cheap is good, but barely usable is not.

Stay away. Oversold, poor support, luring you in with pricing.

Oh and just went on their Facebook page to find thier owner likes every post that himself makes... lol.

This is my paypal claim, which they never responded to:

As of around the first of March, I have had intermittent problems connecting. On around the 5th, this got considerably worse, requiring a server restart, sometimes one, sometimes a few, to be able to connect.

I contacted support on the 7th of March, raising these issues. The next day, the reply was that support had attempted to connect, was successful, and could not see any issues with the VPS receiving internet, saying that it must be a user fault like a firewall change. While it was working on that occasion, it did not seem like support attempted to recreate the issue or otherwise diagnose it.

The next day, the issues began again. I reply, stating that I have to restart the server via the control panel, several times for it to connect, sometimes even the control panel not working. I also confirm that I had made no user side changes. I have not received a response from that email.

Since, it got worse, in one case requiring 13 restarts in one day to be able to connect, which I have screenshotted the control panel logs for. When I did get on, the VPS was extremely sluggish. Not the connection, the actual server, despite the task manager showing well more than half of CPU and RAM being available, and the disk was fine too. What should have taken 10 minutes to move my files off, actually took 4 hours. Unacceptable. Tried more restarts, disabling everything except core Windows from running, restoring a backup... nothing worked.

A few days later, I turned the VPS off and it has stayed off since. I have received inadequate support, servere server downtime and have not been able to carry out tasks that I was reliant on the VPS for.

There has been no software installations, removals or updates. No windows update. No firewall changes. No malware. It is not related to my device or my internet connecton. I tried connecting on Windows on TalkTalk, Android phone on Three and an iPad tablet on the O2 network. I am absolutely positive that this is the fault of the server hardware. Whether that is datacenter issues, oversubscribing/overselling or other users taking bandwidth, I cannot be sure.

Fast Setup And Decent Service

I chose EpicHosts because their site looked promising and their overall customer service was spot on for what I required at the time of purchase. I ordered a VPS and web host combo (Budget Plan and Exclusive VPS) and both were setup within 15 minutes which was a really surprising amount of time!

I also had problems with the web host related to the DNS mail but that was resolved in the first response I received from them - it goes to show that communication with a hosting company helps a lot!

This Company Sucks....

I ordered VPS from EpicHost.

I saw on their facebook profile information about immediate setup.

Price is good, specifications too, so I said : Why not?

And it was a huge mistake.

I waited more than one hour to activate my VPS, and finally I GOT IT!! WITHOUT ANY IP TO CONNECT!

I was angry, but ok I'll wait a few more hours.

And today I wrote two emails to them, cause Live chat is still offline, and I made on PayPal case, that I didn't get my item.

Then after a few minutes I got IP with information:

Please also respect the fact that it is the weekend and staff will therefore be limited due to such lawful holiday and will not be able to process your service as quickly as a working day.

I don't see any information on their website about specify hours to get servers IPs...

I still don't get refund from that provider. I never logged into that IP, so this server is unused. I hope they'll refund my money soon...

Please avoid this provider!

Bad Service

- Set up is not immediate. It takes a few days. Most VPS providers out there provide immediate set up.

- I couldn't access my VPS because of an error on their side. Support had no clue what was going on and I had to waste my time explaining the error over a couple of emails until they solved it.

- VPS performance was awful for its specifications. I contacted them about it. One week later I'm still waiting for their help.

- Their Live Chat support is basically a lie. There's no chat support. In fact, emails take a long time to get an answer.

- Turns on the server is not based in the UK. What's the point of being a .co.uk company if you are hosting in another country? This was worthless to me. I needed a VPS in the UK.

- Considering that 1. VPS performance is bad and 2. Is not the UK, I kindly ask for a refund (I did it just after 24 hours it was created). Still waiting to hear from them on this as well.

Summary: bad performance, bad support. Bad experience. Do not recommend it.

Absolutely amazing company, I recommend it to all. They have been running for years and process your services almost immediately during working times. I couldn't ask for a better company! Thank you epihosts
