Many thanks to the teams at UKC, we discovered on Thursday hundreds of rogue e-mails coming from lots of our charity e-mail addresses. I contacted the support teams on Thursday evening and our Data Protection Officer notified the ICO of the issue. The team at UKC worked really fast and within a couple of hours they had discovered some authentication software was missing from the server which they immediately added. after several backwards and forward e-mails L3 support raised an integrity and forced an attack on the server before passing it up stream to their supplier. Both came back as safe and secure and I was notified by 10:00 today.
Noting that there was a weekend in the time frame that the report was actioned in I am astounded as to how fast the response came I was expecting a much slower response. The reply has been passed to the DPO for him to provide an update to the ICO.
