Unfortunately we had to cancel our family holiday due to an illness and ongoing medical tests on a close family member. We notified Tesco Travel insurance just over 2 weeks before we were due to travel that there was a possibility of cancellation but didn't actually cancel until the day before we should have gone.
As the claim was due to a medical condition, the GP had to complete the declaration. The information he provided was very basic. I included a timeline showing all appointments, tests and outcomes.
We sent the claim off expecting addtional information or clarification to be asked for, but 9 days later we received our settlement which itself was more than we expected to get.
In our case, we were dealt with efficiently and courteously. I don't know if it was because we forewarned them of the possibility of cancellation, the additional information we supplied or if it was just a straight forward claim but I cannot praise the service we received too highly and would definitely use Tesco Travel Insurance again.
