Shortly after we arrived onboard our cruise ship in Istanbul my husband collapsed. The ship's medical team arranged for him to be transferred to a a hospital ashore where he was kept overnight. After numerous tests he was deemed to be fit to travel. The medical expences came to over £3000 - an enourmous bill!! After hearing many bad reports of travel insurance I feared the worst. I shouldn't have worried - LLoyds/Axa paid up in full (minus the £40 excess) in 6 weeks. I cannot fault them. Everyone I spoke to was helpful and understanding. I would say though that you should send them everything you have relevent to your case. It's not sensible to expect them to take your word for anything - they need proof.
