NEVER BE TEMPTED TO USE THIS COMPANY, it is like having no insurance at all!
I have bought an annual family travel insurance policy from Insure and Go for the past 4 years but until last year never had to make a claim. When I bought the policy I answered all their questions honestly. They asked had I seen a hospital doctor in the last 2 years, I hadn't, so said no, I had however seen my GP but they said that didn't count. I went on holiday abroad and became very ill and had to be admitted to hospital. The hospital asked for my travel insurance details and they contacted them on my behalf, as I was too ill to do this myself. Insure and Go kept trying to call my mobile to get my authorisation to contact my GP, I was connected to numerous IV drips and was on morphine but they insisted I sign a form and fax it to them. My GP has said that they continually called him during his surgery but would not disclose why they needed my medical records. They then decided that as I had seen my GP 2 weeks before I took out the policy (for something unrelated to what I was in hospital for) they would not pay out. Luckily we had my blue card (E111) with us and the hospital used this to help pay medical costs but all other costs, having missed our flight home we had to pay for new return flights, car hire for my husband to visit me in hospital, accommodation for him to stay until I could travel home etc. had to be met by ourselves. My GP on my return stated that my visit to see him before the holiday should have no bearing on why I became ill and we asked for an appeal but Insure and Go used everything they could to get out of paying to the point I just gave up.
NEVER BE TEMPTED TO USE THIS COMPANY, you would need to get your solicitor to trawl the small print in detail to make sure you are covered and they would still try to wheedle out of paying.
Since this happened to me at least four people I have spoken with have said they also had problems when making a claim with Insure and Go and in no none of the cases was the claim paid out.
