“Really poor customer service”

Written on: 20/04/2017

Sent mis-matched and incomplete parts and sent them to the wrong address. Apparently to busy to tell me that they couldn't arrange to collect the return on the day we'd agreed, blunt and unhelpful on the phone. Took ages to do refund because "We don't know how to use paypal", even though it's offered as a payment option on their website. Without doubt some of the poorest customer service I've ever received. … Read Full Review

“WARNING”

Written on: 22/03/2017 by rjbenn537 (1 review written)

I would like to bring to your attention to very recent dealings I have had with MX5 City in Doncaster. My son's Mazda MX5 Mk 1 had succumbed to the notorious rusted sills and was disposed of. In order to avoid a repetition we both decided to buy his next Mx5 from a specialist dealer. Living in South Wales, there aren't any close by, so we chose the next best thing, MX5 City, Doncaster. I emailed them and was told by the owner that he had a 54 plate Arctic in "an excellent rust free"… Read Full Review

“Only the best at a great price”

Written on: 21/10/2016 by Soto389 (1 review written)

I collected my good friend (Mk1 Eunos 1.8)from MX5City yesterday following some fairly intensive cosmetic surgery to the bonnet, after a major stuff up by me, with rattle cans, which turned out to be faulty and discharged some fairly large sized blobs onto aformentioned bonnet. Anyway, after some intensive work by CEO and his painter, sanding their fingers down to the bone, the result is nothing short of spectacular.Along with a few other cosmetic touches like a new front number plate surround… Read Full Review

“Flatters To Deceive”

Written on: 21/03/2016 by Hannamrj (1 review written)

Having made a 300 mile round trip to get around £1000 of accessory work done, I'm sad to say I'm not happy. Pre-sale discussions were very positive, hence my decision to make the trip. However, various prices & times scales indicated were exceeded, the work wasn't completed, several parts have had to be re-fitted by my own garage & emails either remain unanswered or promises made which are not kept. The owner, seems a nice guy but these problems, further exacerbated by claims of staff… Read Full Review

“Repair of rusty sills.”

Written on: 13/05/2012

I am new to the world of MX5s but have been interested for many years. Having made the decision to buy, ready for the summer, I purchased a good Mk2 S reg from a neighbour of mine. I was aware of the common problem with sill corrosion but had read of MX5 City and thought they would do a good job. I contacted Martin the owner and sent some pictures. He was quick to respond and suggested a start date and price. I wanted a proper job not a quick fix and this is what I got. Martin arranged to pick… Read Full Review

“Good Old Fashioned Service”

Written on: 22/03/2012

Bought my MX-5 from Martin just over a year ago. Saw it before it was prepped; Martin was down my way and therefore delivered the car for me just for the petrol money. Really enjoyed it over the summer; got many envious looks. Thought I'd wait to review though until my Mr Hard-to-Please MOT tester had checked it over after a summer's use. He found just nothing - not even an advisory. The car is great - and MX-5 City was great to buy from… Read Full Review

Bought a car from mx5 city in jan 2011 and a problem occured
with the differential .The car was repaired and the offer of a
courtesy car was offered but not taken,.The car was then taken for a test drive and handed over free of charge .Not bad to say the car was just out of warranty.
Thankyou very much and look forward to future purchases

If you own a Mazda especially an old one this is the place to take it to for good quality workmanship and reasonable pricing. I have had numerous work done on my 21 year old Mazda MX5 by this garage and the work has always been of a high standard. The guys are really friendly and know what they are doing. I travel out of my way to this garage because it is so reliable and you can trust them. If I need to buy a Mazda in the future I would definately consider buying it from this garage… Read Full Review

Written on: 16/01/2008

I have had 2 cars from mx5city and both times it was good.
They have mended one of my windows and replaced the other under warranty without quibble.
They changed my tyres on my 1st purchase before I got them as they had mud and snows, even though i never knew what mud and snows are.
They repaired paintwork that i didnt even know they were gonna do (small scatch and a chip on the bonnet)
The car came looking immaculate.
When i turned up for the car they showed me round the car and showed me… Read Full Review

Written on: 15/02/2006 by EricGood (1 review written)

I have purchased 2 cars from MX5 City now and I must say that I have found the service and quality of there cars to be some of the best.
Aftersales service is second to none in my opinion as they have fix a few things for me for free even when I have been out of warranty and always they will try to accomodate in any way they can, including giving me a lift home and on one occasion a courtesy car.
I fully recommend MX5 City… Read Full Review

“**Customer story*** ”

Written on: 10/01/2006 by thisisgazza (1 review written)

**Customer story***
Got my car from MX5 City. And to be honest wasn't very impressed with there aftersales. The handbrake wasn't tightening, kept going back with that. Front drivers side brake wasn't rubbing the whole disc properly. The boot wouldn't open with the key.

About a month later the exhaust started blowing. Went back loads of times for the passenger side window(which is still bad )barely goes down. Had the car since around July 2005 and today(Jan 6th 2006) was MOT time. Looks like… Read Full Review

|didnt buy my Mazda from MX5 city but I would not hesitate buying a car from them. They have done various bits of work on my car and every time the work has been of a high standard and the FREE advice they give is brilliant. My car is 21 this year and I am confident that it will give me many more years of road use due to these guys. I wouldnt take my car anywhere else. I think your comment about the electric windows is unfair. My windows are slow and I have had to have a new motor in the passenger side and it cost no where near the amount of £250 you quoted. If it wasnt for your review I am confident that MX5 City would have 5 out of 5 stars.

Mx5City's Response to thisisgazza's Review

Written on: 10/06/2009

We always try hard to keep our customers happy - even when the warranty period has expired - it just makes good business sense and has worked well for me over the last 30 years that I have been selling cars.
We sell about 200 MX-5s a year and we prepare them to a very high standard, which is why we get so much repeat business. Having said that, there's always going to be the odd problem car. The car you bought was over 15 years old I think.
I believe we sorted out all the problems for you free of charge - even the electric windows. (Incidentally they only cost £79.90 each, not £250!)
Regards
MX5 City Limited

Sven1's Response to thisisgazza's Review

Written on: 09/04/2008

I have no connection to MX5 City but find some of the "bad points" unfair on the dealer.
How can someone buy a car and complain it's overpriced i.e. you must have been happy with the deal or you wouldn't have bought it in the first place. To complain about only getting three months warranty isn't realistic - that is standard on a older car and im sure you could have bought a extended warranty. To complain about only getting 6 months tax isn't realistic either, that seems ok to me.
Finally when you buy a car that is over 6 years old there is always going to be something that will need attention. Its just part of life.
