“Misconduct, Misdelivery, Bad Cheques. Bad Support”

★☆☆☆☆

written by wmCastro291 on 23/09/2023

Misconduct, Misdelivery, Bad Cheques and Bad Support One star is too much. They should be shut down. Over the last 30 days I've had to spend 6 hours on the phone with royal mail over a variety of issues. 2 seperate complaints about the misconduct of a postman at my house. 2 parcels go missing. 1 parcel sent back to me the sender without attempting delivery. 1 Reimbursement cheque made out in the wrong name so I can't cash it. 3 Assurances the cheque will be reissued, yet when I called today the support agent said that it had not even been requested. Last month I was in bed asleep and a postman shouted through my bedroom window "oi do you want this parcel or not" I told him it's not my parcel and I don't appreciate you looking into my window and shouting at me" we went back and forth repeating the same lines, despite the parcel not being for me. He finally walked away, shouting loudly that im a [censored]head. I complained and 30 days later received an email that said in short "sorry won't happen again". This would have been a tolerable response had it not been for a repeat of the incident a week later, the same postman came back and woke me up by shouting at my neighbor, the posite said "ill blacklist the address if you don't take the parcel" and again the parcel was not addressed to the person he was speaking to, this time it was mine so I flew out, took the parcel, and told him what I thought of him and to just put a red slip through next time. RM sent me a reimbursement cheque with the wrong name on it so I can't cash it, and when I reported the error, 3 consecutive 'support' agents over the sapce of 2 weeks failed to request the cheque be reissued, I was assured again today that it will be reissued. So far, Royal Mail have not solved a single one of my complaints. I escalated the complaints and received an email assuring me I would get I response in 24hrs, its been 72hrs and still nothing. I have submitted a SAR (Subject Access Request) to RM CS so they can provide me with copies of there documentation and remediation of the complaints raised. I'm going to escalate with the Postal Redress Scheme, Ombudsman and my Local MP. Anyone else facing similar issues with RM should do the same as they are contravening the service agreement they have with you.

“No point using app ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Andyc123456789 on 06/09/2023

I was expecting a parcel today as I was going to be home to receive it, unfortunately at 6 am I got called into work so I went on their app to change my delivery to “leave at the post office” However when I got home later it had been left with a neighbour who has since gone back home to Scotland before I arrived home (her mother has passed away and she comes back home periodically until she decides what to do with the house…..she won’t be back in my neighbourhood until Christmas…….!!!!!!!! The Royal Mail operated said they reserve the right to deliver to neighbours, so why have an app to “change” it…..shoddy system shoddy company……. Oh and even if you’ve been waiting for your call to be answered for an hour….you get cut off at 8pm…..no exceptions…….totally useless customer service.

“Beware they took my expensive package and didn’t...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Frauk on 20/06/2023

Beware they took my expensive package and didn’t even bother to search it they don’t give you any information about it and at the end they just pay small amount as a compensation after that. After reading a lot of reviews on them I think it’s a strategy by there own workers they take your expensive package with out sending it and when you claim they just pay like 50£ even if your package worth a lot more than that like in my case more than 500£

“Royal Mail should be disbanded; their service is terrible”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Southwest64 on 15/06/2023

I found out in a post office from a counter assistant that 1st class post no longer means NEXT DAY delivery, or possibly even the day after that! If you're lucky, Royal Mail may not lose your precious items. I cannot stand the appalling service being offered. I had to use it once recently, but never again. There are no words to describe the ignorance of services offered I found in most assistants - not all. There are hardly any counter assistants - is this because after years of being paid to stay at home and do nothing, there is no longer any work ethic left (except the excellent work ethic shown by our emergency services - thank you!), or because the few who are willing to work recognise what a useless institution Royal Mail is to work for, as well as to use? The queues in my area post office yesterday were massive - out of the door and down the road. Several people in the queue said they'd tried three times that day to get served, given up, and come back a further two or three times before deciding to brave the queue. I myself heard the one counter assistant give out information that I knew to be wrong, and in two different post offices that day (I was desperate to get several items posted yesterday - I couldn't use Special Delivery because the recipient is an NHS worker and therefore AT WORK every day) Mine was a soul-destroying horrible experience I hope I never have to go through again.

“Avoid using Royal Mail”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Karson1981 on 29/04/2023

Avoid using the Royal Mail. They are by far the worst mail carrier in the UK. Parcel Force and Evri are much better. Royal Mail staff are incompetent. My parcels have been delivered to the wrong address and on other occasions they leave a card when I am home. I have nothing positive to say about this company. They have no right to strike and do not deserve any pay increase for the poor service they deliver. I hate when I place an order and the company uses Royal Mail because I know how much stress I will be under when Royal Mail are delivering my packages.

How can Royal mail charge so much for 1st class which is suppose to be next day delivery. I have recieved no post for over a week I have been waiting on urgent things and cards that I know were posted 1st class 9 days ago. I am also aware that agency when they get in are told oh ww could not do this you will have to do double today, this never happens to employed staff. You think you deserve a pay rise you can't be bothered to do the job you are in employed to do. WORK ETHIC DELIVER MY POST

“No wonder no one wants to use Royal Main anymore!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by storm85 on 22/03/2023

Now I know why they get so many bad reviews! Sent a small parcel 2nd Class Monday morning they tried to deliver Saturday. 6 days later ??? Then it could not be delivered and so alerted notice 'Return to Sender'. Why does a return take forever?? Up to 30 days I was told when I complained. Why? Why? Also why no tracking for 2nd class parcels when all the other delivery services do tracking? Great Posties, but rubbish operation!! No wonder no one wants to use Royal Main anymore!

“Delivery once a week…”

★☆☆☆☆

written by HaileeKirkpatrick on 15/03/2023

Four miles from Gatwick, between Horsham and Dorking, so not in an isolated area - so why do all letters and parcels arrive together about once a week? Contractually obligated to deliver mail when received, RM must be in breach of something, by not providing a regular service. Other couriers manage perfectly well to deliver within a reasonable time frame, as paid for by the sender, so why can’t Royal Mail offer a decent service? Simply not fit for purpose or value for money.

“International tracked and signed”

written by rnLeblanc417 on 07/03/2023

This is not what it purports to be. There is no tracking abroad in Ireland that I can find and no way of checking if it is signed for A confindence trick absolute rubbish. My parcel made it to Bristol. After that who knows??? Certainly not royal mail. Afterwards their claims system is completely designed to discourage any claim. Utter rubbish from the start. Appalling.

“Untrustworthy and Incompetent”

★☆☆☆☆

written by RW2000 on 07/02/2023

I purchased a "guaranteed" next day service. The package was delivered two days late. The 'tracking' feature was ridiculous...it basically says when the item is posted and when it is delivered. Royal Mail have rejected my claim for compensation on the grounds that I did not read their T&Cs. It should be illegal for a company to describe a service as 'guaranteed' if it is not guaranteed (or insufficiently insured, as in my case). Royal Mail is essentially a monopoly. I think this type of company should be nationalised. Unsympathetic customer service.

“took off”

★★☆☆☆

written by 36Medeiros on 29/12/2022

Every time I go to Post office it feels like I'm being took off.. Counter clerks always offers the most expensive services without explaining that there are other cheeper options available. Today I sent a 200g parcel for £7.65 (guaranteed special next day delivery) and only at home checked that there is simply next day delivery too for £3.35 which would be all right too, but I was never told that there was this option. Doesn't feel that Royal Mail is customer satisfaction orientated business.

“24hr delivery ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by John1510 on 09/12/2022

Roayal mail are the worst courier company in the Uk I got a package sent andPAID for 24hr tracked a week later to do a 45 mile journey from sender to buyer it’s still not here .This company should be ashamed of themselves having the audacity to strike when they can’t even do the Job they are paid to do , oh and DONT try and speak to a human ! They DONT exist when you want to complain . No wonder they loose so many customers to rival couriers! All I can say is well done Royal Mail the sooner you go out of business the better then the public will receive their deliveries on time . And what they paid for . Not a substandard service

You have been caught up in the strike delayed items get over it ! the delay now is the mail has been hidden away and only the top brass knows where it is and are weening it back into the system , mail from early December is still being tracked to mail centres but mail centres seem to be clear. Thinking of the bigger picture if they go out of business you would have to go and get your mail from a depot somewhere as it would not be delivered to you .Posties are fighting for the service and maybe with customer support they might get somewhere instead of kicking them when they are down.

Royal mail is not fit for purpose it should be taken back under government control.

Striking over Xmas is the last straw for me with this company will not use them again, 48 hour delivery taking over a week to arrive tell me if that's great service!

The cause of your delay is probably the strike action this is not an every day action so yes it has failed you , but when running normally this would be unusual .But yes taken back under government control would be good as this would prolong the service for everyone, at the moment the top dogs of Royal mail just want to destroy it that goes for the delivery service you receive as well.

Pay and Conditions! they asked for a pay rise and the company said it would tear up all of the agreements the union had reached with Royal Mail over the last 100 years .This made them strike as the top guys wanted to crash the company so the shares and the service was at its lowest for a quick buy out from a check billionaire who wants to turn the company into a doorstepping parcel company like yodel or ev4ri formally Hermes ,also the want to shut down 40% of callers offices so you cant collect your parcel or talk about a complaint to a human. Instead they have said they want 3 days deliver parcels to your house and if you are not in the would be sent back to sender and it would be up to you to get them re - sent back to you. Posties haven't forgotten about you the customers but the senior execs are all about profits and ignoring the service.

“Taken High Value Item”

★☆☆☆☆

written by XavierAdams269 on 13/05/2022

Paid for tracked shipping, item made it to London where it sat for two months. Called several times, sent emails and they refused to accept anything was wrong, only response was to wait as item would be delivered. Parcel was returned to the address it was sent from empty - item taken. Any other company would be in court for this, can only claim £50 for an item worth £1000. Sickening service. Would recommended using any other provider/courier rather than the national postal system, subsidized by the government.

As he said, the recipient will receive a notification that X £ needs to be paid for at the local Delivery Office in order to pick up the item which will be handed over on the day. If the buyer fails to do this, I'm not sure you can get the package back if you didn't put a returns address on it. You could try and get in touch with the buyers local DO and ask them to add returns details - if the buyer never goes to pay the fee, but you might have to go to great lengths to prove you are the sender. They told me they would add my details after 15 working days, if my buyer didn't go to the DO, but I sent my item recorded delivery and had the original receipts etc. I write my address for returns on everything now, bar small letters.

For personal reasons, I have had to leave the village I grew up in and also close friends, I would like to write to them to let them know how I am getting on. However, I do not wish to let them know where I am, and I know it would show on the post mark. Could you tell me if I could send my letters to the post office in the village and ask them to put it in the mail box to then be posted on? I would of course add the correct postage to the letter. I would be most grateful if you could let me know how I can manage this? Thank you

No info. You have not said if it is just one item, some, all, which is not much help. Mail will be sent back to sender, if the address does not exists, or the postman can't find it. I have had the odd item send back to me from abroad, only to resend to the same address for it to arrive. If it is eBay items, then I check on Google maps to see if the address exists, if it looks a bit off, as it is not unusual for parts to be missing. At time even getting the buyer to confirm the address if it does not tally up. Normally there is a sticker put on to the mail which will have a tick in the aproprate box as to why it has been returned.

Hi, 1st class mail in not guaranteed to arrive the next day, as some think. There aim is 93% next day, and this target is set by the Government. There blurb say within 2 days, not including Saturday. I send hundreds of 1st class letters and small packs each week, and most do arrive the next day, but then I get the odd one that take more that a week. They do not count it missing till 15 day are past, which tells you something. If you need something that has to arrive the next day, then there is next day guaranteed by 1.00. Post also go's missing, especially anything that looks like a card (people have a bad habit of putting monies in, an tea leaves no this). Always post early, and Don't send it a colored envelope.

I shipped a parcel to Canada on 29/01/14 and it's not been received. I do not have any tracking number as it was normal post. Have I lost it ??

Your parcel should have reached within 10 working days, get the recipient to check with their delivery office just in case it's there, if not it is over the time scale for delivery therefore you can assume it's lost and submit a claim for it to investigated. Hope this helps.

Hi Kazmi. You took a big risk sending your parcel internationally via normal post! Unfortunately you have no re-call if your parcel is lost! You need proof that you sent your parcel & also evidence of its value !

that was not smart to do...without tracking number the parcel will never be deliver are even send...Royal mail employers know that wen something is not recorded to outside UK or even in UK is easy to take...or is getting lost...these days it is the best way to send things recorded wen it is really in portend.it cost a little bit more but your sure that it will arrive..

You need to telephone Royal Mail customer services. You will need your proof of postage & proof of how much your parcel contents are worth! Royal Mail do not make it easy to claim & you may find you are let down by this process! Good luck

You can ring customer services or contact them through their contact form on the Royal Mail website and they will advise further on how to submit claim.

You need to wait 15 working days before putting in a claim. You can get a form from your Post Office.

Your postman will leave a card with details about where and when to collect parcel, which is usually held at the local depot for your area.

Your parcel will either be left with a neighbour and a card put through your letter box to explain this or if it is Special Delivery then you will be notified that your parcel needs to be collected and signed for at your local Royal Mail office. You will need to bring proof of identity , such as a drivers licence.

First class mail usually takes 1-2 days to reach destination, that's what Royal Mail state however there are times it could take slightly longer.

First class postage is supposed to arrive within these postcodes within 1 day of posting but Royal Mail are often hit & miss and your letter could take 2 or even 3 days to arrive! Personally I find Royal Mail to be a very unreliable & expensive service.
