My partner and myself were having a short little break in York. Due to sciatica we had to cancel a trip to Cuba heartbreaking! Just back from Majorca my husband had an accident in the hotel which required surgery we didn't know until after surgery that the ambulance had taken us to a private hospital. I recently had a medical problem whilst on holiday in Turkey which required hospital treatment. As usual this needed clearance from my insurer before they would start. After giving my insurance details the consultant rang the insurance, himself, in my presence, and everything was sorted within 5 minutes and treatment commenced. We have traveled many times. We. Planned a very expensive cruise and took out insurance with AXA as my mm is 92 and I wanted to be able to come home if something happened to her. A week before the cruise I needed surgery. I contacted AXA, customer service was so caring. She emailed me the forms and told me to take my time getting them back. Recovery was much more important. “I actually had a really good experience with them”

I thought I'd share my positive experience given the many negative reviews here. I had a snowboarding accident in Switzerland Dec '13 after which I visited the local doctors before being referred to the hospital where I had an ultrasound and an X-ray. I wasn't allowed to fly or travel home because of my injury (pleural effusion). Have this insurance through my Lloyds Premier Account. Had to have my ears syringed due to an infection whilst in Turkey. It cost around £150 at the time which ate into our funds a little! However on return, I telephoned the claims department- the lady was friendly and helpful- asked me a few basic questions and how much I had paid. In December 2013 whilst on holiday in Australia we made our first ever claim following a combination of emergency bowel surgery followed by a DVT induced severe pulmonary embolism and heart complications. “Great customer service!”

I get my travel insurance though my Lloyds bank and looking at the reviews I can see that they are getting hard criticism. I have been a lloyds customer for many years and this was the first claim I have ever made. I first rung to set up my claim and the person I spoke to was so helpful and I can't parse the customer service highly enough. “Axa Travel Insurance Fantastic ”

We took out annual travel insurance and i was amazed what it covered. It covered the Ash cloud even though we recently had the eruption, they also covered us for my partners Apergers Syndrome and My asthma which many travel insurers would not touch and if they did cost around £300-£350, covered legal expenses and also some sport activities. “ I recently had to return from a planned three week...”

I recently had to return from a planned three week trip abroad after just a few days due to a sudden death back in the U.K. This involved purchasing quite expensive return flights at very short notice.

AXA have been super. All the information was sent through as requested with the relevant documentation and payment was received within a few weeks.
They even refunded the car parking fees.

Subscribed a Axa-schengen travel insurance for a fried from Turkey who visited me in Belgium last summer. For only 39' we subscribed online and got the coveradge certificate to become the Schengen-visum. My friend had an accident and we got a very good help of Axa and payment of all medical expenses, except the 100' exemption. My mum had an accident in India, she fell down a flight of stairs and broke her wrist & bumped her head. I contacted AXA who arranged for her to be flown to a international hospital in Delhi where she underwent tests and an operation and then sent a Doctor over from the UK to get her repatriated back to the UK. The service was very good and I would recommend anyone who is looking for a good travel policy to seriously consider AXA, especially if they are going out of the country for longer… Read Full Review
