“My 87 year old father has been a loyal Prudential...”

Written on: 16/04/2019 by FirozaCorbin (1 review written)

My 87 year old father has been a loyal Prudential customer for over 55 years and regularly paid his house insurance premiums promptly. After water damaged caused his house to be inhabitable, he immediately made a claim and Prudential agreed to pay the claim in March 2018. My father is still waiting for the claim to be paid out and it is now April 2019. This is causing my father and my family so much distress as they now won't answer emails. They have been reported to the Financial Ombudsman and… Read Full Review

“Do not use the Pru”

Written on: 20/11/2017

We have been with the Pru since the early 80's, our parents for many years before that. It was a well respected company. We recently shopped around and found we had been paying well over the going rate for years. As you are supposed to give at least 1 months notice we gave 2 months notice that we would not renew when due in the new year. Today we got 2 letters from the Pru, 1 to say the policy had been cancelled the day they received the letter 7 days before ! The 2nd to affirm it had been… Read Full Review

“Prudential Insurance rip off and dreadful service”

Written on: 28/09/2016 by MrMarshy (1 review written)

My aunt has had a building and contents cover with this company for over 20 years. She is 90 years old. In that time she has never made a single claim. Over the winter a storm resulted in water damage to a bedroom due to roof damage. Part of the ceiling came down and the carpet and wall coverings were damaged. My aunt tried to put in a claim by phone and was told that she was not insured and they would not cover the damage. She said she was simply "fobbed off". She ended up getting a plasterer… Read Full Review

“My 18 year long subsidence claim nightmare with Prudential”

Written on: 24/04/2015 by Syd01 (1 review written)

DO NOT USE PRUDENTIAL INSURANCE, please go to a different company! I am a 76 year old pensioner with a wife in ill health. We both live in the UK and are still fighting an '18 YEAR OLD OUTSTANDING SUBSIDENCE CLAIM' with the Prudential that is slowly killing us both. We cant enjoy our retirement or relax as our house is a complete mess and the dust is not helping my wifes COPD. I've even sent the Prudential her prescriptions and made them aware of what this claim is doing to us. This company… Read Full Review

“Sickness Policy not fit for purpose”

Written on: 14/01/2014

After being involved in a non fault car crash, I thought it would be quicker to claim on my sickness policy. (what a mistake to make)After months of incompetency's by staff, with two complaints up held. I am still no nearer to getting what I am owed. Against medical advise, I have returned to work , due to the fact I am self employed, and so desperate for money. I have not claimed on this policy for over 20 years, and when I so needed it, I find it is not fit for purpose. To sum up prudential… Read Full Review

“knocked our house down”

Written on: 13/11/2013 by AlanDobson (1 review written)

In 2007 our oil tank leaked depositing several thousand litres of oil into and around my late mother in laws property. Prudential hired a company to decontaminate the soil inside and around the property. During this process another company was hired to underpin the house. During this process they accidentally caused the gable end to collapse. Prudential hired builders to reinstate the gable end but have never accepted liability for the damage caused to the rest of the property mainly due to… Read Full Review

I have an ongoing claim with them for £1200 and after 8 months they agreed it and then they changed their mind.

Now I have to go to arbitration - DO NOT INSURE YOUR PROPERTY OR ITS CONTENTS WITH the Prudendial.

Customer service is rubbish - Leave you hanging on the phone for ages on an 0845 number so they hope you will hang up.

The service from the Pru is nothing more than dire

They seem to operate by their own set of rules. No respect shown for their customers and no accountability within their company. When I complained the person I complained about investigated himself. Needless to say the complaint was not upheld

“Prudential Home Insurance ”

Written on: 21/10/2012

We made a claim recently and I have to say that Prudential were good. They dealt with the initial report very quickly and sent a plumber around within 24 hours followed quickly by someone to look at the damage. The insurers dealing with the property took 2 weeks to even get anyone around. Cover was new for old and although they quibled about a few items on the whole we were very pleased with the settlement they offered and the way they handled it. The only critisisn would be their use of a… Read Full Review

“The Insurance Company from Hell ...”

Written on: 20/07/2012

Made a claim on storm damage. Adjuster got evidence wrong. Prudential customer relations non-existent. Phone just rings. Email address provided to send evidence didn't work. Tried to complain to Head of Customer Relations, Steve Grimwade, but his staff instructed not to give out his number to customers. Staff untrained and rude. Correspondence and advice provided by staff completely contradictory. Over two months later still trying to get sensible assessment. Completely hopeless company… Read Full Review

Tiredofwaiting's Comment

Poor you. I've been waiting for a year and can hardly bear to see their name - I read about people having nervous breakdowns dealing with them and the only thing that stops me is I wont give them the satisfaction. If there were no stars available - or a minus number I'd add it. They delay, they contradict, they fob you off. They use UK Assistance as a kind of buffer and are ambiguous about their relationship with them. Passing you back and forth is a great way to delay things even further. And ... I love the way that if you complain they just send you a form letter back that basically repeats some of what you said, doesn't deal with anything important and then - surprise surprise - finds that they are doing a great job. With that they include a leaflet of how to complain to the ombudsman. It's like the ultimate middle finger at the customer!

“Unbelievably incompetent!”

Written on: 26/05/2012

My father had buildings and contents insurance. There was storm damage to his roof in December 2011 but my father died on January 1st 2012. I, as his sole executor, have been trying to get a refund of the grand sum of £285 for roof repairs. I have made umpteen telephone calls to Prudential and talk to people who each tell me a different story and I have sent umpteen letters. They sent me a cheque with the wrong payee and I reutrned it. This morning I received a further cheque and as well… Read Full Review

“After being a loyal customer of prudential and not...”

Written on: 03/05/2012

After being a loyal customer of prudential and not claiming a penny, I realised that since I was paying by direct debit and my home insurance was renewed automatically, they have over charged me for years. I complanined to them before renewal in April 2012 on the reason and was given reasons beyond belief. See correspondences I have had to have with the Board of Directors of Prudential who have simply not taken any serious steps to offer me a competative rate for the renwal. I have now decided… Read Full Review

My story is exactly the same as yours, only the Insurance Company that has been stealing my hard earned cash for the last 7 years is Zurich! I have written a strongly worded letter to them and received a pathetic response today, no word of compsensation or a better quote for this year. I first agreed to the policy in 2005 for £33.69 a month and the 2012 quote is £62 per month. What a joke! I had no idea previously that they wouldn't be charging the average market rate. I've had a quote from the AA, which is £27.00 per month. I will need to move on but I am so mad that they are getting away with this kind of treatment. I think the answer is to check the competition every year.

“The Prudential's claims handling service is dreadful. ...”

Written on: 25/11/2010

The Prudential's claims handling service is dreadful. It has changed in recent years, I suspect since they were bought by RBS. We had our pushbike stolen out of the front garden about 6 months ago. They've lost all our claims paperwork about 3 times and still keep asking to see various things again. I've come to the conclusion that they have a specific stalling strategy and have worked out that if they keep asking for the info to be resupplied eventually people will just give up -… Read Full Review

Written on: 11/08/2008 by JonathanS (1 review written)

When our house burnt down, firstly the Pru told us we were not insured with them and for two hours they kept up the denial before 'finding' us on the 'old' system (we had moved in and taken the insurance only a month earlier).
The builder said he could rebuild in 5-8 weeks. The Pru told has that we would be back in within 12 months. I told them my husband was dying and needed stability and speed with the house. They promised 12 weeks. A staggering 22 months later we moved back in. The… Read Full Review
