“Good ethics and forward thinking”

Written on: 21/03/2019 by SamShelly (1 review written)

Honest, genuine, professional company. Good ethics and forward thinking. The bad reviews come from undisclosed information when they signed up, not the WPA I know. I would feel utterly comfortable recommending private health insurance with WPA to friends and family… Read Full Review

Doesn't paint a fair picture at all... Insurance companies have strategies in place so they don't go bust, this has probably arisen from an undisclosed medical condition when you signed up. I'm a doctor and I know that this is the most commonly understood part of medical insurance.

With regards to pre-existing conditions being excluded, think of it like this, your house burns down and you subsequently call an insurance company to try and cover your loss. It is not an indemnifiable loss.

“They just try to wear you down”

Written on: 26/09/2018 by Shylam413 (1 review written)

I would actually give zero stars if possible. I haven't had experience with other health insurance companies, but this company is unscrupulous. I processed three treatments this past year (including dental, which is on my plan and which is capped) and they have increased my renewal plan to a higher premium payment than anything actually offered on their 2019 options. For everything but dental (which seems to be pretty straightforward), their admin is terrible, no one answers on the message… Read Full Review

“Avoid this company like the plague!”

Written on: 20/12/2017 by Shahcb (1 review written)

Avoid this company like the plague. They have no scruples and will avoid honouring your claims where they can. They will backtrack on assurances given and treat you the customer in an appalling manner.I have been on the receiving end of this and am shocked that a company can operate in this way. They have admitted an error on their part but rather than being gracious about it they lack the common decency to do the right thing. They refuse to discuss issues on the phone, do not respond to… Read Full Review

“Avoid at all cost..they will do everything not to pay out”

Written on: 10/09/2017 by 389Norris (1 review written)

I have been with WPA for a year.. my consultant recommended a cyscostopy. I had had one 10 years previously that was clear. Someone made the decision on the phone when I asked for authorisation that it was a pre-existing condition and would not be covered. They stated that if I had visited my GP in the past 5 years for a UTi it was a pre-existing condition and would not be covered. I had suffered from two uti's in the past couple of months. That was why my GP recommended seeing a consultant!… Read Full Review

“shocking service”

Written on: 04/07/2017 by NataliaMcCleary1947 (1 review written)

I have had nothing but hassles trying to get any authorisation from WPA for my procedures while being insured by them. Any procedure you try no matter how distant it is from that part of your body they try to place it under your exclusions. I had a colonoscopy several years ago, to WPA it was PCOS and needed a doctors letter to confirm it wasn't, I ask you with tears in my eyes. This time round same issue. They need an anatomy book so they can see the relevance but that would mean having to… Read Full Review

“Not worth your money”

Written on: 07/04/2017 by qfCooper267 (1 review written)

They don't send emails. No, they send 'confidential communication' that requires you to spend the next hour resetting all sort of username, passwords, getting your customer number, blah blah blah, mainly to let you know that they won't give you any money back. Customer service is roughly the same: unhelpful. And if you think investing in a dental insurrance is a good thing if you need treatment, well,, you'd be better off paying yourself, you'd save money. Stay away!!!… Read Full Review

“Very Poor Cover Avoid total Rip off”

We arranged the operation and the day before WPA called and said its not covered due to the fact she had gone to the Dr with indigestion a year before which to them meant it was a pre-existing condition??? “Stay well clear they are liars ”

Clearly because you signed up moratorium underwriting, you were probably made fully aware of what you were getting yourself into and signed underneath. I'm a doctor and this is another one of the most commonly misunderstood parts of medical insurance, WPA made it clear cut to me when I signed up.

“Poor service provider”

Written on: 08/02/2016

Possibly the worst service I have ever received in the UK. Over four years I had been a member (I have now switched to another provider), ever claim I have to make resulted in an initial rejection. The first rejection, I was pre-approved, once I made the claim I was asked to provide 5 years of medical history from my GP (they said they'd pay for this, I was never re-imbursed). My medical history showed no pre-existing conditions, however the claim was still rejected. My daughter was on the… Read Full Review

“So far so good ...”

Written on: 22/06/2015 by xkDuffy44 (1 review written)

I'm really surprised by some of the reviews about WPA. We've (myself/husband) been members for over 5 years and have had no issues with any of the claims we have submitted so far. Our claims have ranged from dental to optical to more serious health investigations. I guess it really is a case of reading the 'fine' print in your policy and to make sure you are absolutely aware of what is and what isn't included. I remind myself every year when the renewal comes around, as of course, you do… Read Full Review

“Please Don't Bother! Terrible!”

Written on: 13/05/2015 by Jade472 (1 review written)

Have been with WPA for over 18 months and so far they have refused 2 of our 3 claims. All mostly minor but their customer service was shocking from the start. The most recent claim attempt was this week when I tried to claim for a dental injury I had two weeks ago. I always try to avoid claiming where possible but this time the costs were quite high that I can't afford to pay for it myself although I have already covered half of the problem. I called WPA to notify them that i'd need their… Read Full Review

“Claims procedure perfect”

Written on: 20/11/2014 by ConnorMcDermott (1 review written)

I have had WPA healthcare for about a year now and unfortunately I have just had to use it. You always worry when paying insurance companies money because when you claim you normally have great difficulty in doing it. Well this was very easy and perfect. The staff were great on the phone, they communicated everything very quickly and made me feel loved. From start to finish my investigation and procedure was dealt with within two weeks and I am now in a better place. That why I pay for private… Read Full Review

“Outstanding Quality and Assistance”

Written on: 17/09/2014 by HelenConnect (1 review written)

I stumbled on this site looking for a review on something else, but thought I would just have a look at my Private Health Insurer. Quite shocked to see it have only 2.5 Stars (but when checking the other health insurers, I notice they are even worse!). Anyway, I have been insured by WPA for quite a number of years and all I can say is that the quality of care and kind assistance they offered was nothing but outstanding. I had an ovarian cist removed; my daughter had her tonsils removed and more… Read Full Review

“Very poor customer service from WPA”

Written on: 23/08/2014 by Preston475 (1 review written)

I moved to WPA after having private medical insurance with a number of other insurers for 20+ years. I can categorically say, on the basis of direct comparison, that the customer service from WPA is the worst that I have received from a health insurer. In particular, they appear to have a corporate policy of putting obstacles in the way of any client unfortunate enough to need to make a claim in the first six months of a policy. I am fortunate that the claim was for a minor condition. I dread… Read Full Review

i too had to claim a few times within the first 6 months of my policy and the obstacles put in front of me were unbelievable!
Any way they could avoid payment was put into place and this was also evident when trying to make a NHS cash back claim.
I appreciate there are insurance tricksters out there who will effectively try it on with insurance companies, but this was not the case.
When questions were asked, none of their team claimed to have any medical knowledge whatsoever and the only person who did was only there on an occasional basis, resulting in very poor decision making.
