Having been messed about throughout December 09 with the purchase of a new C Class 220 CDi Blue Efficiency Sport...long story but basically they said they had stopped making them(!?)...eventually I settled with a 2000 mile Ex Demo.
4 days after delivery the cars Engine Management light came on. Mercedes Hull looked at it and came back with a "nothing wrong with it" remark...6 weeks later I experienced total engine failure due to an injector failure.
The Mercedes Hull told me the repair would take 4-6 weeks and promptly pointed me to the waiting Enterprise Rent A Car (ERAC) rep who hired me (for free) an Insignia (YUK!) and then replaced it with a C Class 180 Kompressor (2 days later), by the way I asked ERAC for a diesel Mercedes to be told by ERA that Mercedes had advised them against purchasing the 220 or 250 CDi for the rental fleet due to issues with the injectors!!!!!!! The ERAC guy said on the way to the office that he was collecting 4-5 of these Injector Issues a day!!!!! I started to wonder at what point Mercedes Hull (and Mercedes UK) knew about this and had they sold me the car knowingly with this major flaw!?
After digging around on the web its appears the dealer was well aware of the fault 2-3 months prior to the delivery of my car...."Misselling" if I ever I saw it as the car was clearly "not fit for purpose". I had asked a few questions on some Mercedes forums about the integrity of the dealership and Mercedes regarding the massive Injector Issue that was now dogging 4 out of 5 of the 220 CDi and 250 CDi engines in both C Class and E Class models.
2 weeks after the Injector issue I had a call from Mercedes Hull to let me know the car was ready for collection...thats as far I was, at the time I had gone with the dealership...until the Sunday Times emailed me (through a forum).
Having discussed the story with the Sunday Times it appears both the dealership and the Mercedes were at fault as they had clearly sold the car with a 99% likelihood of a failure within the 1st 5000 miles!!!!
I called the Sales Manager at Mercedes Hull to ask questions about their conduct in selling me a faulty car...with a refusal to speak to me! I left a message with no call back for a day then called again telling the girl on reception that I would hold....5 minutes later the Service Manager answers. I told him that I wanted answers and that I would be returning the car as it had been missold to me...he said he would call back (no call back) I chased it 2 days later and was promptly told that Mercedes UK had refused to "buy back" the car...Disgusted with both the dealership and Mercedes...total dishonesty and integrity and I certainly will never buy another car from Mercedes Hull or for that matter from Mercedes Benz.
I believe in telling it like it is and Mercedes Hull you are extremely poor! Before buying a 220 or 250CDi Google "Mercedes Injector Issue".
