“Fantastic experience with 5day.”

Written on: 14/12/2017

I had previously taken driving lessons but this was over twenty years ago so I felt like a complete beginner on the Monday morning of my course. The theory side of the course was excellent. The chap teaching the theory was really welcoming, lots of fun and made learning this side of things very easy. You are well supported with PowerPoints; clear explanations; online practice tests; one-to-one support if needed; and homework to secure your learning and prepare you for the day ahead. I passed the… Read Full Review

“Passed my test. Norwich”

Written on: 12/12/2017 by EasyPeasy17 (1 review written)

Started on a Monday with zero experience behind the wheel by the following Monday I had passed my test. I can’t complain at all. I did what I set out to do and 5day were great The person I dealt with was brill and made the theory side of things easy to learn(even though I had passed my theory before hand it was nice and easy to brush up on). He goes out of his way to make sure the pupils attending get the best out of it and makes it easy as possible My instructor was great to work with as… Read Full Review

5Day driving course went very well for me. The experience was great, I very much appreciate the time so be with my instructor, well dress, great personality and was amazing at talking me through the driving. He managed to help me understand a lot of information driving in to a short amount of time and help build my confidence on the road. The course is managered very well they the management keep you on track with your day to Day progression. My only one issue I had was that I had already had… Read Full Review

“I passed but...”

Written on: 06/11/2017 by Seb2000 (1 review written)

So I went on this course and today I passed my test. I passed both my theory and practical first time round which was nice but I do have some issues. The theory side of the course was good and was good as could be so that was nice but some feedback would be to emphasise being able to do some theory practice during breaks otherwise you spend them just sitting there waiting.. (we were only really told we coulr go in there on our breaks on the day before the theory test - so just an earlier… Read Full Review

I started last week. And passed my theory prior to the 5day course. I passed with 2 minors thanks to my instructor lovely guy and very patient to say the least absaloute diamond. The only downside is you still have to attend the theory classes in the afternoon even tho you already have the theory passed which is a down side to be honest but the only one. If you go to 5day please attend with a open mind and you will do great!!!… Read Full Review

Whilst we are pleased that you successfully passed your theory test and enjoyed the course, we regret that you are not happy with your test booking in May this year or the private lessons you arranged directly with the Instructor.

When your test was booked, through no fault of 5Day, the Test Centre normally used had a severe but temporary reduction in the number of Examiners available, Therefore to avoid a delay with your test we booked it at an alternative centre.

You arranged a lesson for the day before your test directly with the Instructor. We understand that rather than let you down that day, the Instructor asked another Instructor to take you as he had a personal catastrophe. As soon as we became aware of this we arranged for the original car to be made available to you. However, it appears that you had became so upset over the issue that you refused the lesson and then decided not to attend the test the following day. Since then we have tried to assist you further, but this also has been declined.

You have twisted everything that happened you should be ashamed of your self and I'm very disappointed that this is how you treat customers. I have now contacted a lawyer who will be in touch shortly.
P.S. as soon as I wrote a review you decided to offer me compensation what was the company doing for 5 months.

All readers this is the email the company director sent me
Dear Miss,

I have tried to contact you today regarding the bad review you have placed on review.com which I have fully investigated with both the Training Manager and the Instructor.

Regrettably we had a problem during May 2017 with booking tests at the Barnet Test Centre as there was a shortage of examiners, therefore we had no alternative but to book tests at the nearby test centre, Borehamwood.

Although you booked private lessons for Friday 26th May 2017 with the Instructor, unfortunately he was unable to attend but rather than let you down he arranged for another instructor to cover the lesson. However, I understand that you did not want to use a different car and every effort was made by our Training Manager to appease you by arranging for the original vehicle to be made available but because you were upset, you refused this. On Saturday 27th May 2017 he waited at the 5Day centre to pick you up for your test but I do understand that this may have caused a concern so you did not turn up.

Reviews are important to us all at 5Day, we take pride in the service we provide and just like any other business negative reviews can be extremely damaging. In this particular instance we feel that you are being unfair because you have not given us the opportunity to correct things for you. Had you contacted Customer Services at the time we could have corrected the problem for you and assisted and supported you to obtaining your full licence.

Although I feel that you have been very unfair with the review you have left, I do not like to hear that someone is dissatisfied with our service and I would like to demonstrate how seriously we take matters like this by offering you 4 hours of tuition free of charge plus free car hire for your next test. This is offered as a genuine gesture of goodwill and without prejudice.

Please call 5Day within the next 48 hours during office hours if you would like to take advantage of this.

Kind Regards

Company Director

Anyone customer who want to know more about this can contact me,
I would be happy to explain what kind of company they are .

“DO NOT USE 5DAY”

Written on: 17/09/2017 by Steve1308 (1 review written)

I recently paid for my daughter to learn to drive with 5Day at Sidcup and unfortunately in hindsight this this was a very bad mistake. We had a bad experience with them and would not recommend them under any circumstances. Please also be aware that they are not registered or a member of any trade association so if you have a dispute with them it is very difficult to get anywhere as in our case they have just refused to communicate with us any further. I made the mistake of believing the hype on… Read Full Review

This pupil provided very positive feedback with regard to the in-car Instructor Monday to Thursday and passed her theory test on her final day. However, they had become very upset on Thursday having struggled to come to grips with aspects of their driving. Instead of continuing to try to improve they decided to abandon driving on Thursday afternoon and then blame their progress on the Instructor. We offered this pupil a different Instructor for the remainder of the course, but this was declined and they left the course and went home. A complaint was lodged by their Father who clearly saw this as an opportunity to obtain compensation. In an effort to resolve matters, even though we had done nothing wrong and they had decided not to proceed with the course with another Instructor, we offered them further complimentary tuition with our Training Manager to try to improve their confidence levels. Once again this was declined and instead they paid for further tuition with another Company/Instructor! Our course is £914 excluding the test fees paid to the DVSA. Excluding VAT that equates to £761.67 for invaluable classroom briefs each morning at 9am, in-car tuition between 10:00am and 2:30pm and theory training between 3 and 5pm each day, it also provides you with access to our fast-track practical driving test service, the use of a 5Day car for the test and free corrective lessons if you are unsuccessful. This pupil has declined all of this in favour of paying someone else.

We have explained on numerous occasions the reason why negative feedback was not given on Thursday, admitted it was a mistake not to have done so but was as a consequence of the earlier events of the day and conduct of the instructor and felt in the circumstances completely understandable.
We have never once mentioned or complained about her progress? Our complaint was only about the conduct of the instructor on Thursday and was the reason she got upset which subsequently affected her driving. Furthermore she did not abandon her driving, he instructed her to “get out of the driver’s seat and I’ll drive back to the centre”.
We agree we have declined the offer of any further tuition from 5day and will not under any circumstances accept any, after what occurred we do not feel it is a suitable environment to learn to drive. Our priority was to remedy a bad experience and get our daughter driving again asap and we are happy paying another driving instructor to achieve this.
We’re disappointed 5day seem to be more concerned with the financial side of things rather than the effect this had on one of their clients, otherwise why would they now quote course fees excluding vat unless they are trying to make the course seem better value than it is? We are not VAT registered, what members of the public are?
We’re also not sure how we can be offered “complimentary tuition” and “obtain compensation” when we paid in full, in advance? It appears they believe our only concern is trying to “obtain compensation” and not the service or conduct of their staff. With that in mind if they refund the money for the two days tuition we never received (because of the actions of their instructor) we would happily donate this to a charity of their choice.
In our opinion we felt the service received and conduct of the instructor has been bad and have the right to complain, but as 5day have refused to communicate with us any further and are not a member of any trade associations we have had no option but to escalate this complaint to the relevant bodies.

“Got what I paid for !”

Written on: 14/09/2017 by Niamh2014 (1 review written)

I read all the reviews prior to attending in Sale and they are mainly very very good, the negative things said were you pay for lessons if your are not ready? Well yes as you would expect if you do not feel ready to sit a test it's not a free ride I paid for 2 more lessons and considering I had never driven before the amount I spent including tests was £999 plus £96 for 4 additional hours! My friends at uni have taken over 9 months spending £1700 upwards! The centre is clean tidy and has a… Read Full Review

“Excellent group of driving instructors and staff at 5day”

Written on: 13/09/2017 by Cal92 (0 reviews written)

Excellent group of driving instructors and staff at 5day Norwich, especially the manager for his classroom briefings and people skills. And of course my instructor Aki Naim for his steady approach and humour making me very relaxed when behind the wheel, and obviously his professionalism when he was teaching me how to drive. As a result of this I for one passed my theory test first time and my practical driving test was also first time with zero miners. Because of that I can happily and highly… Read Full Review

“Don't get very much for your money”

Written on: 10/09/2017 by Tamia473 (1 review written)

For £914 you only get 20 hours of practical driving teaching. I signed up for this course thinking that it would fully prepare me for the practical driving test but not enough hours were spent in the car to feel fully comfortable and prepared. On top of the money I spent on this course I will now have to pay to have more lessons to get further practice before I can book the test. 5DAY supposedly pay for test retakes but charge £50 for car hire for each retake so there is still a large… Read Full Review

Would highly recommend 5Day to other people who haven't yet done their theory or passed their driving test. Being a nervous driver at the beginning of the week and then becoming completely confident thanks to my instructor! All the instructors were lovely and the tutor in the classroom was great. Couldn't of passed my driving test without my instructor pushing me to my limits and without spending time in the class. Thank you once again for helping me pass my driving test! “A great course to get you started!”

Written on: 11/08/2017

I have just completed my 5DayL intense driving course at the Barnet 5Day Centre. I was eager to progress in the course & asked that I be pushed to my limits to get great results. From the morning rules of the road class, to the 4 hours of driving a day, I didn't once doubt the instructors/teachers & listened/followed all the guidance given. I liked how the driving is split up into 2, 2 hour sessions, with theory classes in the afternoon. The theory lessons helped loads, as we were guided and… Read Full Review
