Fort Used Car Centre, Birmingham

I purchased a Ford Kuga from Fort Used Car Centre (MPH Automotive) in July 2024, and what followed was a 15-month ordeal that ultimately ended in a court ruling in my favour. From the start, the experience was poor: delivery was repeatedly delayed, the car arrived unclean, and the agreed cosmetic work wasn’t finished. Within three weeks, the car developed a misfire. Although I gave the garage the chance to repair it, communication was terrible—no updates, no paperwork, and when I collected the car it had new damage that had occurred while in their care. Despite a manager later agreeing to extend my warranty and fix the bodywork, getting any response from them was extremely difficult. Before repairs could be arranged, the misfire returned. After seeking advice from Citizens Advice, I exercised my right to reject the vehicle in October 2024, but the garage did not accept this. I no longer trusted them, especially after discovering the car had failed an MOT for major defects just days after I paid my deposit. When I received the car it had passed an MOT, but I was never made aware of the previous issues—which I later found through my own searches and which may have explained the delivery delay. I eventually paid for an independent diagnostic test at Ford, which confirmed ongoing faults. Despite Fort being quick to ask for the report and never stating that Ford was not a suitable garage to use beforehand, they later claimed Ford was not independent. With no progress and the business refusing to resolve the issue, I pursued court action. After a long process, the court ruled in my favour in October 2025, ordering a refund along with other expenses, which I have since received, and the car has now been collected. Overall, my experience with this garage was extremely disappointing—poor communication, lack of transparency and unresolved faults. I would never recommend them. The process has been time-consuming and stressful, but the right outcome was eventually achieved.
