“Beware of exclusions”

I had used Staysure on numerous occasions. They seemed to offer fair & reasonably priced insurance … but beware! I recently took out insurance to cover a holiday to Malta. Unfortunately my dad died two days before we were due to travel. We paid 360gbp for a single trip policy of only 11 days. I thought that by paying over the odds I might have at least a competent level of service. Not so. Having sought an opinion as to where we might stand given a very sudden dip in our health months after the policy was taken out I have a phone bill of over an hour of grinding incompetence (I might as well have asked the two people I finally spoke to for a formula to plug the hole in the ozone layer) but am still no wiser. My husband had a heart attack in Germany the night before we wee due to fly home. He had treatment in a local hospital, where he spent a total of 15 days. I contacted Staysure a few days after he fell ill and was immmediately reassured that they would take care of everything. This May my husband was taken seriously ill in Italy. My daughter rang Staysure to inform them and from that moment on the care given to us was exceptional. Y accommodation was sorted immediately, the Mayday team kept in touch with the hospital and after 11 days in hospital and 3 days in an hotel a paramedic arrived and took us to the airport, accompanied us on the flight home and an ambulance and crew brought us right to our front door. Had the best first class service from these guys especially the lady who spoke to the Greek drs on our behalf and translated, explained the process and what support we could recieve and kept in daily contact arranged somewhere for us to stay, supported us with getting my friend flown home with medical support. “Excellent Customer Service when most needed”

I was pleased with the customer service when renewing our travel insurance but little did we know then that we would be claiming on it so soon. Within two days of arriving at our holiday destination, my husband was taken ill with heart problems. From visiting a local medical centre he was sent directly to a private hospital where he stayed for 6 nights, including 2 in the ICU ward. “wonderful service”

After having 10 days holiday, we returned to Palma airport for our return flight. My Stepson was not feeling well and was seen by the Doctor, who said that he needed to go to hospital. It was decided that I would take all the cases and carry on with the flight home. My partner was left with her son at the hospital, they gave him antibiotics which he responded to very well. “Fantastic Support and Repatriation back to UK”

The support which I received after my accident in Bulgaria was faultless, they certainly pushed the boat out in their efforts to get me back to the UK. “Small print”

Whilst on holiday visiting our daughter in Nz my mother died unexpectedly of pneumonia. We rebooked our flights home and afterwards put our claim in. The death certificate stated cause of death was pneumonia but my mother had very early stage long cancer. The doctor clearly informed the insurance company that this was not a factor in her death but as she had been on medication for pain due to problems with her hips they decided this was pre existing medication and the policy would not… Read Full Review

“Didn't want to pay out after loss of car key! ”

When you take out any sort of holiday insurance you go away knowing that you are covered . Yet when you make a claim for a loss ie un my case I lost my car key at Gatwick airport they refused to help despite sending me an email explaining that they couldn't cover my Taxi expenses buy my key would be covered! I've already explained that I've received an email from the claims department informing me that the policy wording doesn't include motor vehicles or their accessories! So what's the point of me contacting the customer service team?
It's pointless I am very angry about the whole thing soI don't want to discuss it further unless the claim is somehow valid in which case send email please.
That's extremely unlikely so please don't keep ringing my mobile or house phone! ! Perhaps what I should have done is say I lost a bag !

Honesty doesn't pay though does it! !

“Watch out if you need to cancel through illness”

Have annual insurance which seems good value however had to cancel a holiday this year as my sister was told not to travel at the moment as she needed urgent surgery on her heart. I have always given staysure my pre existing medical condition but did not know I needed to tell them that you need to tell them about anyone you may travel with. my claim was refused and only found this out by contacting ERV more than once wondering what delay was. “Please Dont Claim”

Took out travel insurance for me my wife and 2 grandchildren. I myself got admitted to hospital 2 days prior to holiday. I was not allowed to travel. Initially my wife refused to go without me. I persuaded her to go with a friend in my place. Staysure are refusing pay-out as friend took my place, despite being told it does not state this in their policy and I would not have known this. The woman we booked with said your covered for more money & more for valuables stolen and less excess to pay if you upgrade, so we did, but SHE never said monies were not covered unless you had it on your person or it was in a safety deposit box.... “Paltry payout”

A heartless disgusting company with no morals. I had to cancel my holiday due to my partner being in hospital being operated on. All the evidence sent off, but they only paid £500, when the holiday cost over £1000, and then had the check to deduct £85 admin fee. “Shocking company to deal with”

Whilst on holiday recently my father in law sadly passed away on out first night. Cause of death was simply natural causes as confirmed by the local doctor. We had local cremation costs plus other expenses incurred. Staysure refused to except this statement and requested his medical history. They subsequently declined the claim due to a medical condition from 20 years ago which he did not disclose and of which his entire family did not know about. Saw the tv advert and thought I would give them a try. £88 for Annual European cover for my wife and I seemed ok. so no need to shop around. Twelve months ,and many, many unwanted spam emails from other staysure products, later the renewal appears for this year. £169 !!! I make that a little under double the previous year.
