“Avoid hoseasons. Why take the risk!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dennismurray on 18/02/2024

We booked to stay in a wales based log cabin about a year ago and paid £650 with a debit card. 3 weeks before we read the reviews and then showed pictures of dirty pillows, stained beds. We contacted Hoseasons and asked to move site. They initially said they couldn't but then agreed that at an additional cost they would change us. We paid £80 via a Mastercard to move location to Clumber Park, Worksop. We booked a 3 bed cabin with a hot tub. We received conformation and travelled. Upon arrival we were informed that no such booking existed. The reception desk were great and called Hoseasons. They hadn't sent the booking. We discussed and I agreed to take the only available 2 bed cabin meaning we had to cancel friends who were travelling to stay with us. We agreed with Hoseasons a £470 refund. We went to our room but lasted 2 hours. The path to the cabin had dog mess, the room stunk of wet dog. The carpets were dirty. We cut our losses and went home. We never asked Hoseasons for a full refund but rang them to ask that the £470 is paid onto our debit card. Hoseason refused saying they are required by law to pay back to the card we paid on. I agreed, the card we paid on was the debit card. We only paid a transfer fee on the credit card. The complaints gut Zak stated " I sm not willing to pay this back to any other card as it is stipulated by law" . I pointed out that the debit card was used to pay for the holiday. He replied " I am just not doing it and I am now going to stay quiet as I have nothing else to say". Hoseasons have ruined our week, caused us wasted travel and Zak, the complaints manager was just rude and wouldn't listen to common sense. We will now have to requested money back via our credit card which has no balance even though we didn't pay with this for the main holiday. The security team at Clumber Park said they have lots of trouble with Hoseasons quoting " they book out cabin 54 as having a hot tub and it hasn't. We get lots of disappointed people. We have had 3 complaints via hoseasons customers tonight.". We have booked several trips before with Hoseasons but never again. Avoid the spiraling downwards company. They may be a little cheaper at times but you risk ruining your holiday. The consumer act explicitly states, in s34: (7) The trader must make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as the consumer used for the initial transaction, unless the consumer has expressly agreed otherwise. Initial transaction Hoseasons. That was my debit card. Your behaviour has been nothing short of disgusting customer service.

written by on 10/09/2023

Booked a superior caravan at Whitley Bay,it was awful. Small, Dirty and old, also furniture was fraying Customer service on site didn't help and Hoseasons Customer service were more concerned at getting your money and not often even replying. Shame, as I have enjoyed loads of hoseasons holidays previously. NEVER AGAIN, BOOK ELSEWHERE Impossible to escalate a complaint or speak to a Manager. Don't waste your money, like me

written by on 10/09/2023

We recently booked a four night stay in a caravan. We payed extra to book a larger, and more spacious caravan. We didn’t get the accommodation we had payed for. The caravan was filthy dirty and not as described. Customer service complaints department, were appalling to deal with and very rude. We left early from our holiday, simply disgusting conditions. Hoseasons haven’t even had the decency to reply to our written complaint. AVOID!! Not interested once they have had you money. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!

“Alleged profiteering and price gouging.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by auBlair44 on 28/03/2023

I have provided extensive reports to the Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA), the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) and Nation Unite, alleging Hoseasons are guilty of price gouging for bookings made in late 2021, for domestic cottage holidays due during 2022. In my case, it was an 94.5% price increase over bookings I made in 2019 (pre Covid) for holidays in 2020. These holidays had to be cancelled of course and Hoseasons credit vouchers were issued. To be clear, prices for 2020 increased by 94.5% (£99 per night to £192 per night) for 2022, for the same venue, same cottage, same booking term and for the same time of the year. Hoseasons have agreed that the increase of 94.5% from 2020 to 2022, was justified and due to high domestic demand for vacations in the UK following the tough lockdowns during Covid-19 and the availability of very limited overseas travel. They believe it was a question of supply and demand and as their pricing is dynamic and responds to different business pressures and competition, a price rise of 94.5% was reasonable. In my opinion, I see it as an opportunity to take unfair advantage of people who had been stuck at home for so long and prepared to pay anything to get away for a break. I contend that such a rise of 94.5% was way over the top and ethically contestable under the broad headings of price gouging and profiteering. My contention is that I was grossly overcharged.to the tune of £2400. No doubt many other people dealing with Hoseasons could have suffered financially in similar circumstances. Don’t be afraid to take the matter up with them or with the monitoring authorities!

“Do not book with hoseasons ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jorgensen396 on 20/03/2023

We were loyal customers of hoseasons for 20+ years booking at least 2 trips per year, but we will not use them again. We recently booked a lodge for 3 nights to attend a family funeral, but left after 1 night as it was not as advertised, filthy dirty, freezing cold (no heating) shower not working etc. When we complained to hoseasons they decided to side with the owners. Bad move hoseasons.

“Terrible. Avoid”

★☆☆☆☆

written by gdCrabtree286 on 16/11/2022

We hired a boat from Clifton Cruises via Hoseasons in October 2022 for 7 nights and booked one of their 5 star boats 'Peggy' part of the Starboard range. There was no real instructions just a video to watch and off we went. We were told the TV was intermittent but later found the antenna not actually connected on the roof, so would never work. The door was extremely insecure with only 1mm actually latching. The grill didn't work and the gas cooker had 2 rings that didn't turn off. We managed using the other knobs as the others were so worn. A huge safety issue. This boat is far far from 5 star, more of 1 star. The hire company weren't interested and neither were Hoseasons. Avoid

“ashover lodge towyn”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/08/2022

The external photo advertising Ashover is completely different to the actual place. To get to The lodge itself is extremely difficult as it's completely surrounded by other properties & fencing. The drive is immediately next to another house & when we arrived there was a car parked there blocking the gate. The gate itself was on a wheel that stuck & was difficult to open, we had to close our wing mirrors to get through the gate, we did speak to The owner & he suggested leaving the car on the dirt rd that led into the parking space. The space for parking was very limited & anyone with a large car please be aware. There has obviously been some new fence panels fitted a good while ago but the old ones are still there leaning up against the sides of the property with rusty nails sticking out amongst the weeds. The decking has not been maintained & is filthy with mould. On the photo of the lodge there is a small bush which is now extremely overgrown. The small outside area is nothing like the photo & would not like to sit there as it's overlooked by several properties. On the drive there was scrap car parts & the view from there was an overgrown field with a metal fence around it. To sum up we left straight away as it was not as descibed. The owner has refused a refund, beware!

“We booked a caravan through Hoseasons for my husband,...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jodonaldson on 08/07/2022

We booked a caravan through Hoseasons for my husband, young son and myself. We left the caravan after only a few hours of being there as it had bugs crawling in the carpets, even black spots on the mattresses and the whole place smelled. I have a mould allergy and after seeing the mould around the windows we decided it wasn't worth staying for me to become ill with mould exposure. There were coffee or tea marks on the table that hadn't been cleaned off - the whole caravan was just filthy. We returned home that night, travelling almost 7 hrs round trip. Hoseasons were informed and after contacting the caravan site, who eventually answered the complaint after 3 weeks - Hoseasons have since closed my complaint because they were satisfied with the site owner's response, stating the van was clean! I've been tricked of £300 by them and I would urge anyone to please avoid booking through this company as they have proved that they do not care about their customers. I will be taking this further and I will be making a formal complaint against Hoseasons and the caravan park involved. I have never had any reason to complain using other companies and have always found cleanliness and customer care paramount. However sadly I do not recommend booking through this company as you may lose your money like I have. £300 for 3 nights, when we didn't even stay 1 ! I would give Hoseasons no stars, unfortunately had to give one in order to leave a review. I'm so disgusted! This was meant to be a break as being ill with long covid for 2 years which has made me disabled was finally something to look forward to, however it feels that my complaint was never taken seriously, they took my money which is all they are interested in. Will never use Hoseasons again - please look at other companies to book with for peace of mind.

“Do Not Book with this company unless you want stress ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by GlennTobin313 on 10/04/2022

Try and get refund at your peril. Had to cancel due to illness, paid £57 extra insurance for the pleasure of getting ripped off. Makes no difference if you need to cancel, have to prove you are ill. after a week of many conversations and a positive e mail response stating as a goodwill gesture i would get refunded, when i rang uo to confirm was told by the customer service manager it was incorrect and applied to admin costs which were not mentioned in this email. The reviews on these sites are great for booking its because they are taking your money and selling fake insurance that makes no difference. I strongly suggest you check every detail in the pages of terms and condutions which they are good at hiding behind rather than listen to your issue and make a decision that is right for the customer. Insurance sold makes no difference. Email sent about good will is gas hidden text about admin which is not the case. Avoid if you dont want stress

I'm pretty sure this company is making a huge amount of money from their cancellation policy. When I chose the cancellation fee I wrongly assumed it would be a simple process to get a refund. Enjoy our £110 you greedy unsympathetic *Insert word of your choice here*

“Be Careful before booking”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Orsett18 on 19/12/2021

Be aware that if you have any queries with your booking you will be unable to contact Hoseasons direct and their agents refuse to give a contact number or answer emails You will also be asked for a £250 deposit against any damage or un clean surfaces on departure. Who is going to determine this is yet to be advised and as everyone has to leave by 9am I do not see how they are going to examine all accommodations so we are going to have to take photos when we occupy and leave and hope we are refunded in full.

“Unsympathetic and greedy!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SSamrai on 28/10/2021

Used this company once before and was initially happy. Second time we booked with them my wife's grandmother had passed before we were to leave. I had paid for the cancellation cover but I warn you this doesn't mean a thing and you still have to jump through hoops to receive a refund. I had to send her death certificate as proof of death and then they said it wasn't a direct relative until we spoke to the manager and complained. Out of £725 we got back £575 so £150 lost over 'compensation and admin fees'! Sounds like a lot of rubbish for people typing on a computer all day. Won't be using them again. Insensitive to their customers. Hope they enjoy the money they gained as they have lost out on an potential customers in the future due to being greedy!

“DO NOT BOOK THROUGH ANY HOSEASONS COMPANIES”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Gillnaomi on 10/10/2021

14 months ago my family booked a holiday to Snowdonia. We are a party of 11 so knew we needed to book a year or more in advance as it needed to be in half term, near Snowdon and a house that would accept children and dogs. We were going to celebrate my Mums 60th birthday, and it was to be the first time the family will be together in 2 years. THREE WEEKS before our holiday cottages.com called and told me it was cancelled - with no reason. Absolutely disgraceful. A party of 11, 3 weeks before half term and our holiday has just been cancelled without any chance of finding anywhere else to stay. We were given no reason and the response from my complaint 'I cannot advise of a time scale of when to expect further communication on this.' I have since heard nothing. We were offered £300 compensation however divide that between the 10 adults now not going on holiday, that gives us £30 each to go towards trying to find somewhere else to go. Impossible. We are furious, gutted, frustrated. An absolute disgrace.

“Hoseasons? Disgusting”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Shellimg on 09/11/2020

Disgusting attitude to the safety and welfare of customers. We had a short break booked through Hoseasons but a couple of days before we were due to go, my young son started displaying Covid symptoms. We immediately had a test but as the results did not arrive before our holiday was due to start, we adhered to Government guidelines and did the responsible thing and cancelled our holiday. Even though we provided proof of having to self-isolate, because the results we received the day after our holiday should have started were negative, Hoseasons are refusing to refund us. What sort of company has such little concern for it's customers and other holidaymakers, as well as a disregard and disrespect for the advice we are to follow? Hoseasons are absolutely disgraceful and should hang their heads in shame.

written by Natasha.MacPhail on 22/09/2020

If there was a minus i would! I am a Nurse working through this hard time to support my family and patients. I was forced to move my march holiday as they wouldnt refund then. I am due to go in October. They will now not refund me because i dont have cancellation insurance. Even though the holiday park does not have any entertainment on pool shut restaurants shut and pub closed at 10. I paid for a full service and have to go in October to sit in a caravan and do nothing with my three year old! Disgusting

“Tired Hole”

★☆☆☆☆

written by whmarcus on 31/08/2020

Visited your Solway site in Silloth........ has to be the worst site in the UK. The site is tired and almost derelict. The staff clearly are used to the complaints as they don’t give a rats ass, just take their pay cheque. The accommodation (Windermere chalet with Hot Tub) - better described as a damp shed with furniture way past it’s life expectancy, shower hanging off the wall, mattresses from a concentration camp, hot tub is in a wheely bin enclosure, room heaters were rusty and dated, no outdoor seating area. That was the last time we use Hoseasons and we will endeavour to discourage others to spend money with yourselves..... the chalet just screamed “we don’t give a nats ass, but we have your money now”...

“Where to start, arrived at Hemsby Beach Holiday Park...”

★★☆☆☆

written by Emilianoy329 on 31/08/2020

Where to start, arrived at Hemsby Beach Holiday Park was earlier was advised to park. Then at 16:00 Stood in queue with lots of others, complex staff walking along to see what type of accommodation you are in if chalet stay in queue, caravans straight in this went on past 16:00 while several different members of staff ask the same question. Very embarrassing standing past 16:00 being asked the same question. Adult entertainment consist of bingo up till 22:00 then cartoons on screen playing to background music. Swimming had to wait till Monday to get an 1/2 hour session. Overall if the weather was bad nothing for adults with older children to do. May of been different if not for Covid restrictions.

“Cancelled 3 days befor arrival 2 diff reasons given”

★☆☆☆☆

written by daniellejayweston on 05/08/2020

Where do I start. Much like the most recent reviews Hoseasons are full of rubbish. We made 4 bookings in November 2018 for Finlake for my Dad's 60th. Arrival 7th August. We all got our hoseasons Confirmations 17th June. 1 Booking got their information pack from Finlake 1 week before. So I called 7 days before we were due to arrive, told they can see our 3 bookings on hoseasons but hasn't transferred over onto their system. They will look into it and call me back. 6 days before, no one has called me back. I called; same response. 4 days before - still no call back. I called again. Told they will look into it could hear some computer clicking. Someone will call me back same day. 3 days before - I called back took around 15 attempts. Demand an answer no one has bothered to call me back. I dont want to drive 3.5 hours with a toddler and dogs to be turned away. We were told that Hoseasons have had accommodation pulled off their site by the owners but they will do their best to get it sorted. Get told someone will call me back. So try to call for an update through out the day Finally get through at 5pm to be told Hoseasons will call me back by 5.30pm Hoseasons call and tell me there is maintenance on all 3 of our bookings! Thats not what the resort said, and that there is nothing they can do, finlake only notified them yesterday evening. Even though they knew there was a problem 5 days ago! 3 days before our holiday, they've cancelled it. Looks like we won't get anywhere else now either, not for a family of 8 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs. The language I would like to use isn't permitted! But I am absolutely infuriated to say the least. I will be reporting to who ever and which ever professional memberships they are associated (ABTA being one) to do this to so many people is an absolute disgrace. The company should be ashamed of themselves. There is clearly something going on here for so many people to be saying the same things! Never again will I use hoseasons and I will shout it from the rooftops to inform others of what a shambles and embarrassment they are to the UK holiday industry.

“Booked a cabin with hoeseasons, upon arriving at the...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by David52870 on 25/04/2020

Booked a cabin with hoeseasons, upon arriving at the property the owners informed me that they had been ordered to close by hoeseasons that morning. Hoeseasons failed to contact me via phone or email to let me know and therefore had to make a 500 mile round trip. Tried calling them over 500 times and emailing on many occasions attempting to get a refund only to get auto responses that they will be in touch within 48 hours, five weeks later and nothing, so it’s been passed to my solicitor to deal with, who will also be claiming travel costs and legal fees from hoeseasons. Worst possible company who completely ignore the law, avoid like the plague.
