General Comments
It is made by a company called Taylors of Harrogate. Taylors of Harrogate was founded in 1886 by a tea merchant from Yorkshire called Charles Taylor. Taylors of Harrogate is a family business, and they also make delicious coffees, cakes and biscuits, and they also own the Yorkshire based Betty's Caf Tea Rooms, which are well worth a visit if you're in Yorkshire.

Yorkshire Tea is blended from teas from the 3 world leading tea producing countries; Africa, India and Sri Lanka.

There are 3 Yorkshire tea varieties available which are;

Yorkshire tea; the original

Yorkshire tea for hard water; just like original Yorkshire tea, but for hard water areas

And Yorkshire tea Gold; the premium version

You can save tokens from packs of Yorkshire tea to save up for lovely Yorkshire tea gifts from www.yorkshiretea.co.uk, or you can purchase the gifts online. The Yorkshire tea tea pot is gorgeous, and I can't wait to get one.

Taylors of Harrogate have been running a campaign called Trees for life for the past 15 years, and they donate £100,000 per year to plant trees in developing countries. Visit www.yorkshiretea.co.uk for more information.

A free sample of tea or coffee and a money off coupon is usually available from www.bettysbypost.com/samples, but at the moment this is unavailable. I will update this when it becomes available again.

Tea is amazingly good for you, and I was going to include all the health benefits of drinking tea, but decided instead to include some tea drinking superstitions...

"To stir the tea in the pot anti-clockwise will stir up trouble."

"To spill a little tea whilst making it is a lucky omen."

"Should the lid of the tea pot be accidentally left off you may expect a stranger bearing ill tidings."

"Two tea-spoons, accidentally placed together on a saucer, points to a wedding or a pregnancy."

"Bubbles on tea denote kisses."

Yorkshire tea, (160 teabag packs), are priced around £3.24, the hard water teabags, (160 teabag pack), around £3.25, and the Yorkshire Gold, (160 teabag pack) at £4.55. Yorkshire tea and Yorkshire Gold are also available as loose tea in 250g packs for £1.59 for Yorkshire tea, and £1.79 for Yorkshire Gold. (Prices above are from Tesco).

I must admit that I don't normally drink tea; I find it dries out my mouth and leaves me thirstier than when I started! Yorkshire tea is different; it leaves you refreshed and your thirst quenched. The hard water tea really does make a difference; apparently the lime scale that fluffs up your kettle also affects the way the tea brews.

Yorkshire tea is supremely tasty and brews a nice strong cuppa that isn't too heavy in tannin, the very thing that dries out your mouth. There are no gimmicks and no chimps, just a gorgeous cup of tea in a good old fashioned square bag! For an extra special cup of tea try the Gold. Bloomin' marvellous!
