This Bike Is A Reliable Little Gem. She's Been Rid

This bike is a reliable little gem. She's been ridden almost every day for the past two years and has taken me 9 miles to work and the 9 miles back with very little problem. I bought the bike for £400 from a kid on Ebay. I was previously riding a Gilera Runner VX 125, which was stolen, and was very surprised at the acceleration when I first had a ride. This was probably down to it being fitted with a sports exhaust. Around 3 months after I bought it, the exhaust developed a hole which made it too loud. I replaced the exhaust with another sports exhaust, recommended by my local Honda Dealer, but the exhaust didn't fit too well and some custom adjustments had to be made to fit it on properly. Once on, the bike spent the next 8 months being ridden daily with no problems. With a little rev with startup, it started first time every time. Even in snow and rain and sitting for a week (outside) it started with no problems. Indicators, horn and lights are very easy to operate and speedo and fuel gauge are accurate (when working). Be wary though, there is no main beam, but I think this is usually the case with smaller scooters. It costs about £4.80 to completely fill the tank from empty and has an oil light which comes on when oil is running low. It uses a 2-stroke oil mix so that needs topping up every month and a half or so if in constant use. Back light has failed once in the two years but was easily replaceable with a dual bulb for £4. Front brake pads were changed once for £16 (including pads) and the back brake (drum) has only recently failed for some unknown reason (probably needs new shoes/tightening). It was originally serviced when I bought it and given new spark plugs as well as some steering alignment. Apart from that there was nothing else that needed doing and like I say has continued to start first time every time since bought. Riding experience is probably not as stable as other bikes with better suspensions or that are a little bigger but this can make it a little more fun to ride. It can be quite nippy at times and was always ready to go from the off (no warming up required). With a sports exhaust it tops out at around 34mph, no faster down hill as restrictors are in place elsewhere on the bike.

If you like a fun ride and really only need something for town-riding this bike is definitely recommended.

It is relatively simple for any motorcycle dealership to de-restrict this scooter which will up the top speed to 40/45 & gives a little more throttle response also. I've had mine from new & aside from some starting probs. when left standing for a while (mainly down to petrol "going off") It has been ultra reliable for 13 years now.
