I signed up to the HGV course at the beginning of the year, i paid the £10 fee got the information sent via email and was advised i would be contacted the following week by the agent i spoke with to see how i was getting on advise me of the next steps, i never received this call, i had a few difficulties in this time that led to my decision of not being able to complete the course due medical reasons, i advised the company of this to be informed i was outside the 14 days i need to either fail a medical, be imprisoned or have my licence taken off me in order for me to be entitled to a refund, i decided i would try a different class to see if i was able to go ahead with the training in another capacity so changed class this was agreed very quickly as they weren't losing a potential customer, i attended the medical i then had to go to my doctor to get additional information sent with the medical report, i did pass the medical but after discussing my health long term with my councillor it was advised that i wouldn't be able to have this as a long term career due to my disability and mental health, i informed DVLA of this and they agreed straight away to withdraw my application and just keep my automatic driving licence for cars. I then a week or so later received the letter from the DVLA saying my application has been withdrawn and any money paid with my application should be returned immediately. I called HGV training advised them of this and sent a copy of the letter via email and was advised i would be contacted back within 5 working days, approximately 30 minutes later i received an email saying i am outside the 180 days from when i signed up so i am not eligible for a refund despite doing everything asked of me, they stated that the letter was not technically a medical rejection letter and i have no way of getting out of this course despite me saying numerous times im not going to be able to do it, they go on to say we would like to see your complete your training with us which is 100% chargeable and the only thing they could offer was a 6 month extension. i emailed saying this was unacceptable and all the reasons that this was not going to be possible for me with no answer i then called the centre to which previous i have always found to be very rude on the phone, and asked to speak to a manager i was advised an immediate call back, i then within 15 minutes received an email saying because i said a few swear words in the email they would not call me back which is actually fair enough i was angry and shouldn't have sworn and worded how i felt a lot better again in this email the only thing they could offer was a 6 month extension. I then sent a very long email explaining how in there terms and conditions it clearly states that if medically unable to complete the course will be entitled to refund i used exact quotes and the email was very well worded explaining how my conditions affect me with larger vehicle the risks to others and my own health and asked for my complaint to be raised to the ombudsman, amazingly around 30 minutes later i received a reply email saying after looking at your account again we would like to offer cancellation but ask that i pay £250 for the medical which in my prior email i said i would as it was an element i used so rightly should be charged, i agreed to this and received an email the following day saying how would i like to pay the £250 either by card or bank transfer i found this crazy as i had been paying the £96 a month finance which they should have taken out of this when the amount paid was refunded to me, but i refused to be drawn back in to deal with this company so agreed to pay by credit card and would contact the finance company to see the next steps with them. Please if anyone is thinking of using this company be very careful they only care if you’re paying them to care it’s all good going by the book but when you’re not reading the book you’re going by it becomes a bit of joke.

hgvtraining.co.uk was recommended to me by my neighbour, and i got in through their finance scheme. The training was very professional. I must say this is the best school for the beginners as they have a lot detailed courses. They gave me free theory test and unlimited attempts until i pass so i cant complain any - they deserve a 5 star.
