Pathetic Customer Service

This was the worst ever experience I had with a car dealer, left me feeling that I'd never go to dealers /brokers to purchase vehicles.. I visited this trader WMS Motor Group located at UB1 2PD in Southall which is around 23 miles away from Goodmayes the place where I live. I called up this dealer 2 days before and said that I liked their Toyota Prius 1.5 Hybrid advertised on AutoTrader then appointment was fixed on Saturday.It took 2.5 hrs for me to travel there, after I reached there I see lot of cars outside their garage and some inside the garage but no one bothered to ask me what I came for. You will forget what you came for by the time they attend you :-( After 1/2 hr of waiting, a worker comes out of that garage and enquired what I wanted, then I explained to him politely. He said the manager is having his lunch inside and told me it would take 15mins, by that time he advised me to take a look at their Prius vehicles parked along the road just outside their service center. I was patient enough after travelling so far, the worker went inside the garage as he said it was a very busy day for him.

When I checked their vehicles most of them were locked, I couldn't open doors or take pictures etc, none of them had a sticker showing mileage, price & other details so it was pointless standing and waiting. I then told the worker about this who just came out again to see me again. He showed a vehicle whose door wasnt locked and said all the prius models have same dimension so I can have a look at it, he then disappeared. It was 2005 or '06 model which had done around 50K miles going for £4500, though it was slightly out of my budget 4K I wanted to get a test drive and wanted some more explanation but there was proper staff to explain things.

After a wait of another 1/2 hour of just checking the other locked cars, now the big man, manager comes out and asks me what I came looking for. I played back the story again and also made him clear that I wasn't much interested in other vehicles except the car whose advert i saw in the website [ description- £3,990 Toyota Prius 1.5 Hybrid T Spirit Hatchback 5dr Petrol Hybrid CVT (104 g/km, 76 bhp)- Key Facts 2005 Hatchback 35,000 miles Automatic 1.5L Hybrid]

The manager said that vehicle is gone for service today and is not available, and that he could show me tomorrow or day after. He also says he can go drive the vehicle now but again on the agreement that I made a deal and make some deposit for that car. This is totally unacceptable to me, as a customer I can travel and come 23 miles far only to go without seeing the vehicle I came for which is a shame! I could have asked the dealer to cover my travel costs before he could show me the vehicle i was interested, to me it sounds illogical.

I left the place as I was no more interested in them who has no customer service skills or ethics to deal with customers. They should learn sales, customer service, treating customers with dignity and respect, not behaving rude and attitude. Show the car first, explain the options, get an idea of the person's taste, provide a test drive facility and then ask customer regarding deposits or payment if he/she had liked the car. That's what customer service is really. Literally, I have ruined my weekend I could have spent a good time with my family instead:)
