This car dealer, 'Cavalier City', trading under the name 'Church Street Garage' in Windlesham Surrey, has a reasonable selection of small used ford cars for sale. The sales staff are courteous and efficient, at least whilst they are selling you a car.

We agreed recently to pay £7,000 for a used ford fiesta, so long as some minor faults noted on the sales form were put right. One was the power socket. It turns out they did replace the power socket but failed to insulate it so that the fuse was immediately blown. In other words they never tested the repair.

They wanted us to return the car to them for repair which would have been very inconvenient. We had the problem fixed and asked that they reimburse us the £59 it cost us.

The response was a lawyers letter offering "£5 in full and final settlement" which we ignored as ridiculous.

Any firm that values its reputation and which has sold you an item for £7,000 and then hugely inconveniences you (couldn't run our satnav with no power socket) would, you imagine, happily reimburse its customer and apologise! They must have spent more on getting a lawyer to draft the letter offering us £5 than the £59 claim!

I would not recommend doing business with these people.
