Selling Clocked Car
Saw a Dacia Sandero 1.5 DCi advertised on Autotrader at Autosales Trading of Corstorphine, Edinburgh. Car looked tidy and was at a fair price so I went to view it. A large & recent gap in the car's paperwork raised my suspicions somewhat, so I told them I'd think about it and went home. Later that day I ran a vehicle data-check which showed that the mileage as displayed on the car's odometer and as advertised, was 60,000 lower than that recorded in the most recent MOT, was way lower than the second most recent MOT, and that other mileage discrepancies were also flagged against the vehicle. The car was presented by the staff at Autosales Trading as being a genuine one-owner, correct mileage car and the reason given for the iffy paperwork was that the previous owner had gone from using the car heavily to barely using it at all, hence had sold it to the garage.
Happily walked away from it and reported the garage (which I later found out is run by a well known Edinburgh criminal family) to Trading Standards at Edinburgh City Council.
