Don't Touch Them With A Bargepole

My daughter took her Peugeot 206 to them today for a quote to replace one rear wheel bearing. They charged her £40 just to inspect the car then gave her a quote for £900 stating that all four wheelbearings needed replacement; all four indicator bulbs needed replacing; a rear tyre needed replacing as it was "94% worn"; plus they said it needed the brake fluid replacing and an engine flush; plus a rear stoplight bulb plus lower wishbone arms. The term "padding the job" doesn't cover it.

Given the car has a good service history and I've driven and been driven in her car recently; only the rear wheel bearing applies. She won't be going there again.

Just Had An Mot Here!

Had MOT here, my wifes car failed on wiper blade which certainly required replacement (quoted £27 for drivers side) got one for £6.24 from eurocarparts & offside headlight adjustment (quoted £15 to fix by AC). Went to a local kwik fit as quoted £10 to adjust if required, at kwik fit it was on & off the ramp in 2 mins with staff saying both headlights had been adjusted (did not charge me due to 2 minute fix). Went back to Arnold Clark for free re test came off the ramp after checking headlight & was told by reception that the headlight adjustment had been done FOC by their mechanic during the re test & they were not charging me. Was confused & I advised reception that lights had been adjusted by kwik fit an hour ago!!! This just goes to show than no one can be trusted to carry out work on your car, it's clearly about getting as much £ out of you as possible even when work is not required. People need to ask to see the problem & question the charges. I would have been charged £27 for wiper & £15 to re align light adding up to £42 when I got the repairs done for £6.24. My trust in the motoring trade is nil. Check the work with everyone, when you have your services carried out anywhere get someone to check who has a basic knowledge that air filters, oil etc have been changed.
