Motorhome Ford Transit Squire 400rl Not As Described.
I saw this motorhome advertised with pictures. Looked great. Because I lived 65miles from this sales location I phoned for details about the internal condition of the motorhome. I specifically asked about water ingress and damp
(this is common on some older coachbuilt motorhomes).
I was passed onto a man who knew more about this motorhome.
He advised me there was no ingress or damp in the motorhome.
I travelled the 65miles to the garage site and was given the keys to view the motorhome.
I was disgusted to find that the salesman had blatantly lied to me.
The internal cupboards on both sides of the motorhome were stained from water ingress and when I tested with my damp meter it showed excessive damp.
I checked the outside condition and found collision damage to the rear nearside wheelarch, there was no sign of this on the online pictures.
This damage was on the glassfibre body or the motorhome and would be very expensive to repair.
The price on the website was £11-475. The price on the windscreen was £11-975.
Before I visited this garage I checked average prices and found that the average price should be around £10-975. I presumed the higher price would mean a better motorhome. Sadly I was wrong. And to round off a miserable day, when I picked up the key to the motorhome I fell down the steps from their office.
These steps are quite steep and they vary in depth.
So if you like lethal steps and being overcharged, call them or worse still pay them a visit.
