I bought the most expensive comprehensive insurance available (over £400 for one person). I carefully read the policy document regarding exclusions prior to purchase. I was held up by the Volcanic ash and put a claim in. I was told by P J Hayman who sold me the policy that although there were no relevant exclusions anywhere on the policy this was not covered by AXA the underwriters. Do not buy this insurance it is just very expensive paper.

Tried to get travel insurance with my existing medical condition as the tag line for this company is "travel insurance for those with pre- existing medical conditions" spent 20 mins filling out forms only to be told by 'Free Spirit' I couldn't be insured after having a heart attack more than 5 years ago!
