Masterquote Home Insurance

in august 2005 when UK was hit by storms some of the tiles on the roof slipped and were causing leak to the main bedroom. I tried to find a local tradesman to fix it with no luck as all have been busy fixing other peoples roofs. I called masterquote and with no hassle at all they sent someone to fix the roof, to dry the ceiling, to take of the wallpaper from the ceiling and the walls and paid cash for room redecoration. Everything I would normally expect, nothing out of ordinary, but worth mentioning after I read many horrible stories about people's experiences with other insurers.

I called Masterquote Home Insurance when I realised I had forgotten to cancel my policy after moving. From my first call I was told I was entitled to a full refund as long as I faxed through proof of change of address and new policy which I faxed through again and again and again. All in all I spoke to 5 people over a period of 7 months. My file never seemed to be updated correctly, they kept losing my paperwork and not once was I told that I was only entitled to three months worth of refund. The last person I called told me this when I questioned the refund letter I received. I have probably spent more money on phone calls and faxes than the value of refund I have received and wouldn't be surprised to find I am out of pocket!!

I would pity anyone that needs to make a claim against this company that seems to be unorganised. They are not the cheapest insurer around either.

I think you will find these people very hard to beat, especially if you live in Hants/Sussex/ Dorset. I asked Masterquote for an initial quote on the internet and the response was quite good. BUT afterwards they phoned me and offered another quote which was absolutely amazing - £130 for a 3 bed semi, including legal fees and home emergency cover.
