“After being a loyal customer of prudential and not...”

Written on: 03/05/2012

After being a loyal customer of prudential and not claiming a penny, I realised that since I was paying by direct debit and my home insurance was renewed automatically, they have over charged me for years. I complanined to them before renewal in April 2012 on the reason and was given reasons beyond belief. See correspondences I have had to have with the Board of Directors of Prudential who have simply not taken any serious steps to offer me a competative rate for the renwal. I have now decided enough is enough and moved on. A work of advice to all loyal prudential customer, "shop around for the best like for like quotes as prudential will over charge you for being loyal to them. Although they revised my quote, it was not in comparion to other where I was still making a saving of over £200.00:

Dear Mr xxxx

I'm sorry that you've felt it necessary to write to me and my colleagues to resolves your complaint. I'll ask one of my team to look into it as a matter of urgency and get back to you.

Regards

Rob Devey

Subject: A very disappointed loyal customer of Prudential

Dear Sirs/Madams,

I would like to bring to your attention an unfair and unethical way your company has tried to renew my home insurance policy that I had complained about last year as well. I am sure I am not the only customer that has brought up these, but many customers must have complained and all stops at the customer service depatrment. Today I complained again on why my renewal quote is way too high i.e. £634.94. I called the renewal dept. and was given reasons that are beyond belief. They quoted me a best price of £522.58.

Because of the silly excuses I received from your renewal dept., I decided to call other competitors and received quotes from the likes of swift cover, AXA, Bradford Bingley, Santander, etc. who have quoted me from £365.00 for a similar cover. I do not understand, why after being a loyal customer from the day I bought my property and not claimed a penny, the same insurance company I have been with, is trying to con me. It seems customer loyalty is non existant in your company. It simply seems that greed is what drives your business.

I would appreciate if you can look into this matter URGENTLY and let me know whether you would like me to renew my policy with your company at the similar quotes I have had from other, or is it time for me to move on. I shall wait to hear from you within the next 48 hours. Failure to reply, I shall assume your company is not interested and I shall have to cover my home insurance with others.

Regards,

xxxx

My story is exactly the same as yours, only the Insurance Company that has been stealing my hard earned cash for the last 7 years is Zurich! I have written a strongly worded letter to them and received a pathetic response today, no word of compsensation or a better quote for this year. I first agreed to the policy in 2005 for £33.69 a month and the 2012 quote is £62 per month. What a joke! I had no idea previously that they wouldn't be charging the average market rate. I've had a quote from the AA, which is £27.00 per month. I will need to move on but I am so mad that they are getting away with this kind of treatment. I think the answer is to check the competition every year.
