Unreliable 7 Poor Service

I have been with sim4travel for 5 years but this will be the last.

2 years ago I could not get any service in Corsica. no help from their customer diservice department.

Last year I went through a period when it would not send simple text messages although we were receiving them.

This year after working OK for 1 month in Greece, it has suddenly decided it wont send any text messages again. I called 400, got through to a call centre, chose the option to speak to an customer service agent, waited for 15 minutes and then got cut off. I never got the chance to speak to anyone and for that I was charged £2.75. What a great way for them to make money! When you check their website, their is no option to email them!

Even though it means losing my phone number I shall be getting rid of them when I return home.

Be warned.......in my opinion they are rubbish.

Very Bad Service

I rarely used this Sim4Travel number, mostly for text messages. Then discovered that I wasn't receiving texts which was not good. Called the help line (dialled 400) and was on hold for an hour. Person tried to be helpful but could only take me through the troubleshooting advice as available on the web. Took my number and said a technician would call back. Three days later and no call so I tried to call again - ran out of credit after about 10 minutes as a call to the service line costs, and just gave up. Am stomping on the SIM and have ordered a new one from a different service provider. Disappointed to have lost this mobile phone number however. Very inconvenient. I suspect that they are in the process of going under given the lack of response.

From Good To Bad; Became Unusable!!!

I used to use Sim4Travel in the past, for several years. However, 2 years ago I could not use it whilst on my annual holiday in the NL. I had topped up the year before with the compulsory lowest amount, i.e. £30 shortly before we returned to the UK,and not much of that £30 had been used. However, when I wanted to use it again, during my next summer holiday, it kept telling me 'you have no access to this number', every time I tried to use it. So, last year I bought a Hema sim card and that's what I am using now. (Hema is a large Dutch department store.)

This Is The Biggest Rip Of Ever!! Don't Buy One, I

THIS IS THE BIGGEST RIP OF EVER!! DON'T BUY ONE, IT COSTS THE PERSON PHONING YOU A FORTUNE, A 9 MIN PHONE CALL FROM A LAND LINE TO OUR SIM4TRAVEL PHONE COST OVER £10, AND A THREE MIN MOB-MOB COST OVER 10 EUROS FOR THE POOR FRIEND WHO RANG US. I WISH I HAD READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE BUYING A £60 SIM :( ONCE IT HAS RUN OUT IT WILL BE BINNED FOR SURE.

OH I HAD TO GIVE IT ONE STAR AGAINST MY WILL AS THIS SITE NEEDS SOME SORT OF RATING IF I HAD MY WAY IT WOULD NOT GET ANY STARS.

It Used To Be Good. No Roaming Charges For Incomi

It used to be good. No roaming charges for incoming calls and no daily charges then they started to get greedy. Calls from Switzerland were difficult or impossible to make on Sim4Travel whilst still being easy from the same location on my regular mobile phone and call credit just vanishes for no obvious reason. Also reports of massive call charges for anyone calling you. AVOID

Read The Small Print! Subject To A Daily Network S

Read the small print! Subject to a daily Network Service Fee of £0.39 if you make or receive a call or send a text. I will be more careful to read the small print in future. Also awkward to use with the whole ring back thing not always seeming to work properly yet charges seeming to accumulate.

I bought this SIM4travel International Roaming Sim card as going away for first time without my son and i wanted him to be able to keep in touch with me while i was away. Next time i will buy a local Sim immediately on arrival and give him the number.

I found this review very helpful because...

it made me aware of something I might have overlooked (reading the small print of the contract).

Don't Buy This Sim Card! Problem 1

DON'T BUY THIS SIM CARD!

PROBLEM 1

---------

I purchased a SIM (which include £10 credit) from BA on the way to the USA. After registering my phone I discovered that there was no credit. To call SIM4Travel for support would cost £1.19 per minute. There was no online support i.e. IM or email. I called them using Skype but the matter was not resolved. I emailed BA who contacted them and they put the £10 credit and £7 for phone calls on my account. I didn't use the phone while in the USA.

PROBLEM 2

---------

I understood that it was necessary to use the SIM in order to retain the credit. I came to do this within 60 days while in the UK, only to discover that the SIM was not actually compatible with my particular triband mobile a Nokia 6310i (a great phone still in regular use by lots of people despite its age). When I contacted SIM4Travel they confirmed the known issue but would not offer a refund and suggested that I used it on a another device. That is my only unregistered mobile and my other SIMs work fine i.e. Tesco and Lebara. SIM4Travel stated this information was freely available on their website which proved to be incorrect. Even if it had been true I wouldn't have had access to the information 20,000 feet in the air.

ACTION

------

I have reported SIM4Travel to both Ofcom (who don't actually regulate this type of business but log it for monitoring purposes) and Trading Standards. I have received a call reference from both and would urge everyone else to register complaints with them.

OUTCOME

-------

British Airways have been great in resolving both problems and confirmed that THEY will refund me the money on the return of the SIM card. I understand that SIM4Travel sell their cards though other companies and over the Internet, so BE WARNED!

I found this review very helpful because...

problems were well documented with responses and possible solutions (which may or may not have worked). It provided valuable information in helping me to decide NOT to buy this card (recommended by my local CarPhoneWarehouse!).
