Warning to Potential Buyers and Breeders: My Experience with Broadway Ragdolls

I’m the owner of Rarity Ragdolls, a TICA-registered cattery. In 2023, I became involved with Broadway Ragdolls after responding to a listing she posted on a business-for-sale platform. The experience that followed has resulted in significant financial loss and unresolved obligations that remain outstanding as of 2025.

As part of the initial sale, she was to provide six cats (a mix of kings and queens) and a selection of “nursery materials.” While some items were usable, a portion of the materials were used and not in suitable condition, and I ultimately removed or replaced them for health and safety reasons.

Of the six cats she sold me:

One queen, specified in the contract and paid for in full, was never provided to me.

One king was of Broadway Ragdoll lines and has a clean pedigree, but is a sibling to all of the queens he was intended to be bred with. He has remained in my program and is paired only with unrelated queens.

One queen came through another cattery with Broadway Ragdoll lines, has a clean pedigree, and is still part of my program.

One male (Jones) was deemed unfit for breeding by a state-licensed veterinarian due to both health and temperament concerns and was returned to her.

One queen (Lillia) was returned due to severe inbreeding and infertility.

One queen (Annie) was retired due to her Type B blood type and the lack of a compatible king. Breeding her to a Type A male resulted in the loss of two litters. I attempted to return and replace Annie, but she refused.

She grossly inflated the claimed value of the cats she provided relative to their actual genetic quality and breeding potential.

In a separate transaction in 2024, I soldher a breeding cat under a signed contract. She paid a non-refundable deposit, took possession of the kitten, and failed to pay the remaining balance. She has refused to return the cat and has since attempted to retroactively change the terms of that agreement.

She does not provide customers with formal pedigrees or complete genetic health documentation. I know this firsthand—not only from my experience as a buyer, but also because I helped her prepare her “going home” materials. Her standard practice is to provide buyers only with the TICA Certificate of Registration for the sire and dam, which does not include any generational lineage or extended pedigree.

When I acquired cats, I received no 3- or 5-generation pedigrees and had to order them myself in order to assess the bloodlines. Full-panel genetic and health testing was also not provided—only basic UC Davis color testing for some of the cats. I had to personally cover the cost of trait and disease testing after taking the cats home.

This lack of documentation makes it difficult to responsibly manage genetic diversity, avoid inbreeding, and verify health risks. It also poses a major issue for breeders who rely on transparency and recorded ancestry in order to maintain ethical breeding programs.

To date Broadway Ragdolls owe me over $26,000 in unpaid invoices, stud fees, and costs related to returned and misrepresented cats. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this—including formal demand letters from my attorney—these obligations remain unmet.

This amount does not reflect the additional financial harm caused by the lack of a viable king after returning Jones. For nearly a year, I was unable to produce any litters because there were no adult kings present in the cattery, which also suppressed the reproductive cycles of my queens. The resulting loss of income and breeding momentum was substantial and directly attributable toher misrepresentation of the breeding viability of the male she sold me.

During this period, she and I agreed that I would temporarily borrow one of her kings. As part of the process, my veterinarian required proof of the king’s vaccination status. When we received the documentation, my vet’s office contacted the veterinary practice listed to verify the information—only to discover that no veterinarian by that name had ever worked there, and the office had no record of the cat in question. Both my vet’s office and I were subsequently contacted by a New York Police Department detective regarding the matter. This was the second time I had been contacted by an NYPD detective in connection with Broadway Ragdolls. I do not know the outcome of these investigations, but the incident raised serious concerns about the integrity of her documentation and practices.

This account is supported by contracts, emails, veterinary documentation, genetic test results, and receipts. I am sharing this information to protect other breeders and buyers from similar losses. If you are considering doing business with Broadway Ragdolls, I strongly advise you to proceed with caution, get everything in writing, and independently verify all pedigrees, health clearances, and genetic documentation before committing to any purchase or collaboration.

Fantastic Experience With This Breeder

My girlfriend and I purchased a ragdoll kitten, Cameron aka now Goose, from Broadway Ragdolls last fall 2021. It was the best decision we ever made. From day one, our boy was friendly, well trained, and healthy. He is best pals with our other ragdoll, Blue who we purchased from a different breeder. Comparing our experience with two breeders, Broadway Ragdolls was the superior one in support, communication, what they offer for the price, and quality of the kitten.

Sick Kittens

It is with a heavy heart that my beloved ragdoll from broadway ragdoll passed away from FIP. Her house was filthy dirty, smelled of cat urine and feces. My eye burned and I felt nauseous from the smell of her house. She has since moved to a new house. My kitten had parasites from her cattery and was feline coronavirus positive. She was diagnosed with wet FIP and passed away a month ago. I am not the only owner of a ragdoll from this breeder that their cat passed of FIP. My vet told me my ragdoll probably had a a mutant variant given her poor dirty living situations, and several kittens dying of FIP from her cattery. I never contacted them because she was over 2 years of age, therefore no longer covered by her contract. I would NEVER want another kitten from this breeder in fear of them being sick. Every time I contacted them about my ragdoll having diarrhea, she was blaming me for her medical problems. Stay far away from this breeder, you very well may end up with a sick kitten. My heart is broken after losing my ragdoll, as well as all my family members who were so close to her.

This review is fake and contains false information. #1 our clients know to contact us immediately with questions and concerns. We are available six days a week from 11am - 8pm. #2 FIP is CURABLE. Cornell University and University of Kanas have concluded this condition to be successfully treatable with the treatment of GS-441524, an anti-viral drug. Read the article for yourself:

#3 WHY WOULD YOU PURCHASE A KITTEN FROM A CATTERY if it was as unsanitary as described above??? No one would do that.

Broadway Ragdolls Is The Best Ragdoll Breeder!

We are on our fourth Ragdoll kitten from this establishment. Our first handsome boy is now seven. We have been in the breeder's home several times. The place is always kept immaculate and the kitties are treated like family. We just purchased our fourth amazing kitten from Broadway Ragdolls. The owner is very trustworthy and helps to match with you with the right kitten. We would never consider going anywhere else.

Love These Cats.

We got our Humphrey here, and he is SUCH a love. He has never met a stranger, gets along with other cats and dogs, and comes running to comfort you when you need it. Very well adjusted and healthy. We flew with him, and he didnt seem bothered at all. He adjusts to any situation. We took him on vacation to the catskills, and he does well in the car. He has been learning tricks, eats well, and has never had any litter or scratching issues.

I Never Hesitated In Choosing Broadway Rags As My Breeder!

From my very first interaction with the person I dealt with at Broadway Rags, I knew I found a trusted breeder of these magnificent cats. She availed herself to my every email and question and request for a video chat. There was never any pressure to purchase or adopt any kitten that she didn't feet was the right fit for me and our toy poodle. When I decided to wait a year for the kitten I really wanted, the person I dealt with supported me and my decision. As a professional breeder, she made sure that choosing the perfect kitten for us was important to her too. Broadway Rags produces the most beautiful, true to the breed standards, healthy kittens. Her cattery is closed and she is strict in abiding by her rules. All of these contributed to a comforting choice that we selected the best breeder for our new Ragdoll. We continue to seek advice from the person I dealt with and take advantage of her generosity in sharing knowledge on the breed. She is supportive before, during and after the adoption. We couldn't be more pleased. Thank you to the person I dealt with for your dedication and love of Ragdolls. You have made a wonderful contribution to the feline world!

Amazing Place

Perhaps the cleanest Cattery for Ragdolls. What I love about Broadway Ragdolls is that the breeder is that you can see the cats environment. Every Kitten and cat was healthy (and there were many kitties to see).

If you're interested in this breed, this is the place to go. The kitten we got is happy and healthy.

Incredible Ragdoll Cattery!

I can't say enough about the Cattery. We have been in touch since October as I lost my beloved cat, and wanted to get a kitten right away. However, that did not happen, I just got Ruby March 4. And the timing was perfect! I needed all these months to grieve. In this time, she was helping decide on the type of kitten I should get particularly for me and waited months. Hence, WELL WORTH IT!

She is caring, loving, knowledgeable, patient, and very, very professional. Her cats, well, are breathtaking! In addition, her cats are like her own children, and does a phenomenal job preparing them to go to their new home: loving, sociable, litter trained, in great health, etc. Need I go on..
