Bosch Greenstar Smallest One 24 Kw
Took advice of plumbers and thought it would be a premium product. Ha! Can't adjust the water temp from 50c
{so need thermostatic shower.} I had no idea there are none adjustable boilers. The water pressure refill system is so badly designed with illegible markers only visible with a torch and awkward plunger tool. No older person would
be able to see the markings. Flimsy flaps under it and on front
I could go on, just don't buy one, no thought has gone into the final product.

Reliably Breaks Down Every Year!
I like to be fair so I will list the good ad bad points. I'm in a three bed semi with 1 bathroom the 24i junior is recommended for my property based on Worcester Bosch website
Pros :-
* It is quiet, one of the quietest boilers I've experienced. You still hear it but it's not intrusive. (although as I am writing this it sounds like a jet is trying to take off in my kitchen but the boiler is due its annual break down!)
* It's small and fits neatly into the corner.
* It can save you money on you bills. it is supposed to be very energy efficient.
Cons
* I have had this boiler for 3 years ( It was in the house when I moved in though so it may be older) It has broken down without fail every year. So I will give the advert it's credit they are reliable at something! If you get this getting something like e.ons boiler and CH cover is ESSENTIAL! (Unless you like to fork out a lot of money that is!)
* If you have the hot tap on for a while the boiler seemingly gets bored and decides not to continue heating the water it's like living with a drill Sargent "Nope that's plenty for you I'm off now"
* If you add a bit of cold to the hot via the mixer tap the boiler gets confused and switches off. It thinks you either want boiling or freezing water but nothing in between
* The pressure is constantly falling on this boiler it is certainly not a device you can leave to run by itself it does need a lot of attention to keep running.
* This may not be due to the boiler in particular but the pipes also freeze every year. (Not the problems that I have had to call the engineer out for that has been to do with components inside the machine failing). This means that when the winter starts you need the heating on 24/7 because if it goes off it isn't coming back on again this can make for very high prices in the winter!
I will admit I probably don't pay this boiler the attention that it deserves, but I have young children which take my attention away from baby sitting the boiler. I have not had it repaired by a Worcester Bosch guy as they seem extortionately priced. I Have the boiler serviced every year it passes and then I also get an engineer out to fix it every year. Also I was not in the property when this boiler was installed so I do not know it;s age but I have been told by the engineer it is quite new.
I do not recommend this boiler I have been told it is the worst of the Worcester Bosch boilers yet this is the one their website recommends to what I think is one of the most common property types a 3 bed semi.
I have put the value for money at average I didn't pay for it so I cannot comment on that but you will have to take out a policy to cover break downs on this boiler or else it will cost you a fortune that much I do know.
Bang to rights! My WB boiler does just the same. Halfway through a shower the boiler shuts down and cold water rules!
The damn thing is full of flimsy plastic components and heat and pressure and plastic is a bad idea.
I will never get a WB again and mine was supplied and regularly serviced by WB approved installer.
It has broken down three times.
sorry to hear about your troubles! my boiler is 10 years old and broke down only once, due to wear and tear one part had to be replaced, but it has worked fine since the installation! i am shocked to hear about those problems some people have with it.

Over Rated!
I run a business which installs over 150 boilers a year. We also repair and service all types of boilers. Worcester Bosch Greenstar boilers are without a doubt the leaders in terms of brand awareness, but are they any good? Well they're ok but not outstanding. Domestic hot water performance of the combination boiler range is not exactly impressive (compared to others) and the over all construction isn't impressive; the control cover door nearly always breaks off it's flimsy hinges, cases often rattle and many (most) internal components are made of plastic. The alloy heat exchanger sheds a horrid sticky gunk which congests the condense trap and it can be damaged by softened water. Changing some parts is often challenging due to poor design and the associated optional controls are overly complicated. You want a boiler that has a familiar name, then buy a Worcester Bosch. You want a good boiler..............buy another make!
Thats very intresting as I thought these boilers were supposed to be very good, what boilers are in your opinion good ones? (if such a thing exists with the modern combi boiler!)
