Ideal Icos HE12

We have saved 30% on our gas bill since this boiler was fitted 5 years ago , great boiler no trouble and my service engineer loves them .

i bought my house with one of these fitted already and have lived here for 7 years now .. i have probably spent more that a new boiler fitted would cost in keeping this pile of rubbish running .. if its not the PCB ( which it inevitably is ) its the thermistors with error codes h1 e1 fl and a whole bunch of others ..

When i can afford i will be purchasing a new boiler and it WONT be from ideal i wouldnt buy anything from them as i believe it is poorly made and of poor quality . i do worry as well with so many different error codes in the last 5 years weather my boiler is safe but every year i get it serviced my plumber assures me it is and fixes the problems but it seems temporarily.

I will add when it is working it heats my water and radiators well and is a quiet boiler but its downsides far outweigh the ups im afraid

I have had an ICOS HE12 boiler from new for the past 2 years.

In the past 2 years the boiler has two major breakdowns due to a fault with the main programming board. The first time IDEAL repaired it under warranty, the second time they want to charge me 245 pounds in advance for the repair despite this being a repeat of the same fault which they repaired under warranty.

I spent 30 mins on the phone trying to reason with them but they refuse to budge quoting company policy at me.

This is a rubbish boiler and less than 'ideal' manufacturer - stay away!!!
