Poor Product Quality, Poor Service

Our boiler was installed last week... and failed within 5 days!!!

We were meant to be moving into our newly renovated home at the weekend, but couldn't as we had no hot water or heating on the coldest weekend of the year!

The PSB (printed circuit board) failed. For context - there's one of these in every single item you own - from your hoover to your washing machine to your tv - and I've never heard of any of those breaking!

I called the warranty line, and was told I'd have to wait 4 days for an engineer. After some complaining and insisting, I managed to get them to shift it to today, and the boiler is now working..... but for how long???

Now feeling nervous about the whole system - if you want peace of mind, don't buy BAXI!!!

Terrible!

First of all let me say that when it's working it's not a bad machine, good controls and does the job as it should - but then all it needs to do is heat up water and make my radiators hot. How hard can it be?

Very hard by the looks of things, we've had it five months and every month there's a new fault of some description. Leaks, flame problems, broken parts and just plain refusing to work are the problems so far.

Avoid!

I bought this boiler after it was recommended to me. It has just broke down for the 6th time in 5 years and everytime it has been the same problem (code E133) . Baxi has said there is nothing wrong with it and do not consider it unacceptable that it has broken down this many times. It is a joke because each time engineer comes they say the boiler has a known fault. I see they have now updated the model but reviews are not a lot better. AVOID at all costs. I had a Worcester Bosch before for 20 years and it never broke once!

Our Boiler Is Only 3 Years Old But We've Already H

Our boiler is only 3 years old but we've already had a lifetime of troubles.

Basically, it won't stay lit. I have had to reset it so often that the knob has come loose.

And we can't get anyone to service it. Registered gas fitters don't return calls or respond to texts or emails. I'm guessing they know it's more trouble than it's worth and they're better off ignoring us. Given the state of the economy that tells you something.

Long story short, I wouldn't have another Baxi boiler if they paid me. As soon as I've saved enough I'll be replacing it with something - anything! - else. A wet box of matches would be more effective.

Baxi Duo-tec 28 Condensing Boiler :-had It 3 Years

BAXI duo-tec 28 condensing boiler :-Had it 3 years. for the last 2 years we have suffered from :-

loss of pressure

pressure over 3 bars when increased the temprature.

leaks from multiple areas

Gas does not ignite immediate leading to a trace smell of gass which disappears once the boiler is fired up.

Whistling when the hot water tap in the bathroom is on, and a smaller whistle when the down stairs kitchen hot tap is on.

I have had an engineer replace multiple parts and i now find out that the "diaphram" has failed which would cost approx £300 to fix. This problem is due to a design flaw whereby the condensate pipe which is external and which lets water out of the system to regulate the pressure, but in cold tempratures freezes the expelled water from the copper pipe all the back to the internal diaphram and damages it. This is actually the way the bolier is supposed to respond because it is only recommended to be used in environments where the temprature drops to -7C. since we have had 2 very cold winters it explains all my problems.

It is totally unfair to blame the boiler for these problems, all of these faults are basic faults that most could be cured with a good service , if the boiler is maintained properly these problems would be gone . If the pressure is over 3 bar when system is on then the expansion vessel needs pressurising which should be done within the price of a service, this is why you are having to top it up all the time, smell of gas will also be either boiler over gassed or electrodes need adjusting, again included in a service. As for your condensing pipe freezing , well i'm sorry that is simply a installation error, there are certain precautions when installing ANY condensing boiler that must be adhered to. Most people like to blame the boiler but if the Baxi Duo tec is fitted CORRECTLY and maintained properly then it is a fantastic peice of kit. By the way , i'm sorry to inform you but it is not the diaphragm damaged due to freezing because it has NO changable diaphragm, if the condensate freezes then the water will back up to the boiler and cause a E133 safety feature to occur. The whistling from the boiler will mean that you will have scale in the cold water inlet , usually down to hard water, when fitting boilers in a hard water area , then a filter should be fitted, if its not hard water then you may simply have a bit of dirt in the inlet filter, again this is not the fault of BAXI or its boiler. I have worked for myself for 20 years and fit about 80 - 100 Baxi Duo Tecs per year and have over 200 of these boilers on my monthly maintainence plan and i can assure you that these boilers are top quality when installed and maintained properly. My advice is to try a different Gas fitter!!! . Kevin ( K B Gas & Heating ) .

Easy To Work, Durabilety, Bar Pressure Gone Down T

Easy to work, Durabilety, bar pressure gone down twice since we have had it but that is down to fitters to be fare. Pressure would'nt come back up the last time took 4 days to tell me they could'nt come for another 3 days. this was in the cold spell. Hope he'll be here tomorrow. This would not have been so bad if they separated the hot water from the central heating then at least we would have had hot water. Next boiler I will look for one that separates hot water from C,H.
