BEWARE about RED Driving School

Hi everyone, BEWARE about RED Driving School!

Me and my wife both fell for this. I will begin with myself first. I have been driving for almost 10 years now, and new to the UK, but not to driving. I choose RED as someone told me to try them if I am not getting any other instructor. I did a block booking for 10 hours. The instructor I went with for first 2 hours, told me I drive “Okay okay” needs more practice, and it can take upto 30-40 hours! I guess he was preparing me for F1 race. I tried to explain him, I have got an exam booked in a month, I need to get it over with as I need license for my job. He agreed to give me lessons but told me that ‘until he feels I am ready, he won’t give his car to me’. As per the instructor rules and policy, the instructor have a right to refuse to give their car. WOW! You pay your hard earned money and spend hours and pounds on lessons and they just give you this statement and put their hands up! I completed the block of 10 hours, and still he wasn’t happy. He refused to give me his car. I approached another instructor LDC approved, he assessed me and he gave me his car at first instance. He gave me roughly 2 lessons to understand UK rules and that’s it, got me ready for my exam. I PASSED at FIRST attempt! Proved my RED instructor wrong.

Now going onto my wife’s situation. She wanted a female instructor. So she tried everyone within our vicinity, but no one was available. We took our chances and contacted RED, assuming that they might do some good this time. They found her a female instructor. She started her lessons, which went well to begin with.

My wife used to come and describe me the lessons. After 20-25 hours, she came and told me that she is still on the basics! I argued with her and tried to tease out why she is not progressing. However, my naïve wife, she was defending her instructor and told no let the instructor teach her they way she wants to do. With my 10 years of driving experience, I was sure my wife is just getting fooled. After 60 hours, my wife felt she is ready. But the instructor as usually they do at RED gave a statement ‘They have the right to refuse to give their car’. Which to me is injustice to the learner. My wife’s confidence went down as the instructor belittled her and also told her stuff that she is not ready, she will fail within first 5 minutes n stuff….

My wife continued to take lessons. She reached 80 hours. She explained the instructor that she needs license for her job and she has been refused job offers now 3 times due to this license. She also explained her that she is unemployed now and she doesn’t have money for lessons. However, instructor was reluctant to ask her to go for the exam. She somehow forced her. But the instructor was not at all supportive and kept on criticising my wife’s driving. She eventually went with low confidence for her exam and failed.

After that we stopped the lessons from RED. We went to other local instructors. 2 instructors assessed her and were shocked that after 80 hours, my wife didn’t knew a lot of things. We investigated more, and we came to know that instructor RED gave us was a TRAINEE. She was recruited a month ago just before my wife started taking lessons from her. She didn’t even taught my wife everything. And this is not our judgement, but assessment feedback from 2 qualified and experienced instructors.

We complaint to RED, and according to their investigation, the instructor taught everything. And they won’t investigate it further. This was an unjust decision. We were not heard for, and the RED took their instructors side, rather that investigating it a bit more. I am not hoping for RED to respond to this review. Because they are hopeless. I will never recommend RED to anyone. They tried to trick and experienced and in-experienced driver. So here’s the evidence for the world, who ever you are they will trick you. Don’t trust that RED will do anything after this review, because my wife did a formal complaint. And as per RED’s investigation the instructor did her best, and it was my wife’s fault that she took time to learn! I wasn’t holding my breath on it though. But still it will be worth spending time to do this review as it might help someone save their money. Roughly we spend £4300 overall on RED lessons. I believe in Karma and hope that one day the company will suffer for the trick they do!

Lesson 1 on Monday, passed 8 days later!!!!!

Best instructor ever!! Only had 7 hours of lessons with him and already passed!!

I was 20 hours away from being test-ready before I met him but his ability to improve the small details in a BIG way made all the difference.

he, honestly, transformed my driving forever, in just a week!

Very flexible on timings and approach.

High recommend for everyone, regardless of location

I’m Greatful For My Instructor I Found On Red Driving

The life changing journey of driving has taught me so much about myself and also has helped me to build confidence and never be afraid to take on the challenge. I had to find an instructor as last mintue because my previous instructor let me down due to cancellations. But the new instructor I had from red taught me skills I didn’t think I had in me. , with so much confidence I passed 1st time and am greatful for red driving school for always being able to support whenever I needed to speak to someone. Would 100% recommend red driving school to anyone.

Excellent Instructor

I learnt to drive with RED driving school. She taught in great detail and each lesson was very productive, making effective use of the time available. She instilled so much confidence into me and my sister as drivers and was extremely approachable for any questions we may have had. With her, communication was easy and she would always accommodate any of my schedule restrictions. I highly recommend her to any learner drivers as she was an immense help.

kayakay

When you finish the full 4 week teen course, do you receive your license or your permit?

ConnorDarley

No you have to keep taking lesson and do a theory test and once you've passed the theory then you can book your practical driving test and once you pass the practical driving test then you get a full UK licence

humayraa

Do they have any female instructors? Also what prices do they charge?

Eleckykey

Hi Humayraa, all of the prices vary depending on how many lessons you wish to book, all of the prices are given to you whilst you are on the phone, If you decide to use Red Driving, then whilst on the phone with them tell them that you would like a Female instructor and they will do that for you. Within a few minutes of booking my lessons I received an email from Red with all of the details of my instructor, and before I had finished reading the Email the Instructor was on the phone introducing himself and making arrangements for the lessons

Hope this helps
