We were driving behind a learner driver in Dunmow. As they approached a mini roundabout on a steep hill they stopped and the driver stalled. We'd anticipated this and had given them plenty of room behind in case they rolled back. They tried a few times to do a hillstart and we were totally patient as we were in no hurry. A driver 2 cars behind us beeped their horn. The Mutlows instructor stuck their middle finger up at us! They must have a problem with their hearing as it obviously wasn't us as the sound came from further away. I was surprised at how unprofessional this was. It certainly put Mutlows in disrepute as a company and they have lost the future business of my 16 and 14 year olds who will be learning in a couple of years' time. Mind you, after reading these reviews I would be looking for instructors elsewhere anyway.

I recently took driving lessons with Mutlows and while the actual instruction was good, the communication from the company left much to be desired. My instructor was knowledgeable and patient, and the lessons themselves were productive and effective. However, the positive experience ended there.

Without any prior warning, my instructor informed me at the end of one of our last sessions that they would be moved to Colchester due to a backlog. This abrupt notice meant I could no longer book lessons with them, leaving me in an uncertain position. What made matters worse was that Mutlows did not proactively reach out to explain the situation or offer support; I was left confused and without guidance on how to proceed.

To compound the frustration, the only communication I received from Mutlows was an email that felt passive-aggressive in tone. This was disheartening and only added to my sense of being unsupported during an already stressful time.

Overall, while the quality of the driving lessons themselves was commendable, Mutlows’ communication practices were disappointing. Clearer, more empathetic communication would go a long way in improving their service.

My daughter's driving lessons were unfortunately canceled multiple times, causing significant delays in her progress. Instead of completing her required hours within one month as planned, it took her several months to achieve the same due to the repeated cancellations

Owner of mutlows won’t speak to me after one of his instructors shouted at my son on 2 occasions now and she spoke down to me and condescending to me.

She told my son twice to get a new instructor even though he still had credit after she found out he was dyslexic she told my son this changes everything.

He ever brought it up before as his a clever lad.

Mutlows don’t take complaints on board and don’t care for customers.

Glad it’s not just me! Followed a learner in Colchester 15:00 today. Passed them safely and not aggressively on a clear, straight road. They sounded the horn as I passed. Either the instructor did this or the, rather unconfident learner did. Instructor, role model, muppet? Take your pick. No wonder there are entitled, rubbish drivers.Go to a reputable instructor.

Followed one of this company’s instructors on 3/2/23 down the a13 and into Benfleet Essex. The driver weaved in and out of cars at high speed before going though a red light at sadlers farm. Absolutely terrible dangerous driver that would be perfect on a racing track but certainly would not want to learn with them! Certainly not a credit to their profession and definitely an accident waiting to happen. They definitely need some lessons!

My daugher was a very nervous driver, he as been just wonderful with her, his patience and fantastic attitude has transformed her and she passed last week, we are so grateful for the care and attention he paid to our daughter and would thoroughly recommend him, many thanks

Do waste your time or money on this poor excuse of a driving school !!!

Constantly cancelling on my son should of had at least 25 lessons by now lucky if he has 15 lesson and the excuses we get are " forgot I booked you in, we just got a new kitten, my eye hurts lol

Always cancelling last minute too normally with about 10-15 minutes before lesson is about to start

Do not even deserve a star! The male instructor in Clacton on sea took my partners money for a year , 2 hours a week and the day before his test he refused to let him use his car, absolutely disgusted. All to "save his reputation" extremely poor service and my family and friends will be advising anybody to not go with Mutlows if they dont want to get let down last minute. To do that the day before , leaving him no choice but to practice in my car, a car he's not used to at all the night before his test. He deserves a refund. Will be spreading the word.

He have been have lessons with Mutlows and only cancelled a couple times due to covid and work. My dog died a couple days ago so I messaged him to cancel as I didn’t feel up to being out. His response was “cancelling again, find another instructor”. Personally I think this is rude and completely disrespectful and felt with in a very unprofessional manor. Would not recommend!
