“Not cheap but excellent”

Written on: 26/06/2012

I've been with NuBlue for a couple of years now. Their service is exemplary. They are by far the best host I have used a number of different ones in the UK and US for a number of years.
Support is by phone or email. Emails are always answered, usually within the hour. They help out with all aspects and difficulties you may run into. Need a database exporting? No problem. Need a domain importing, they'll sort you out. So why not 5 stars for value...?

There are only two negatives and these are very particular ones:

1. There is no SSH access on shared server packages. In some ways this is good as it keeps the shared hosting more secure but if you like to administer commands via SSH or use Git remotely, the shared hosting packages are too limiting - you'd have to opt for a VPS package which are very expensive. Which brings us to the price...
2. They are expensive for comparative services elsewhere. For the most part, I'm happy to pay extra for great product and service - which they certainly deliver but there is a big jump in price between services. For example, as of writing this (26/6/2012) shared reseller hosting (S5 package) for up to 50 domains is £29.99 + VAT a month. However, if you need SSH access you'll need a VPS solution (R10 VPS package) that can host up to 100 domains it's £49.99 + VAT a month - there's nothing in-between.

So - they are a great host, easily the best I've used; just ensure you understand the limitations and price implications of the different packages.
