Had a HTC Desire C and was given a HTC Desire 530 as a Xmas present only to find it doesn't work with my car's built in hands free kit.

Tried everything I could think of before calling HTC. Told by tech guy that the HTC Desire 530 has a different "Bluetooth" protocol - whatever that means!

The only way to get the phone to communicate with my car was to buy a 3rd party adapter (£65) and get my car's manufacturer to fit it (£???).

All phones are advertised as having Bluetooth but all Bluetooth protocols are not the same apparently. Seems very unfair. I can't tell the wife she bought me something that doesn't work - she thinks it was a great present. Thanks HTC.

While HTC's phones are incredible woe betide you if it goes wrong. My HTC Desire has been with HTC for repairs since last Monday. When I called for an update they told me it has been sitting for 6 days with nothing being done to it. They are escalating the issue which will take another 48 hours! I'm really disappointed and angry at the service I've received and it might put me off buying another handset incase it too goes wrong and I have to send it to that lot!

I've been a user of HTC phones for several years now - starting with the Orange-branded SPV, The SPV M600, Touch HD, and most recently the Desire. Not only have all of the handsets been superbly made - I've never experienced hardware failures or problems - but HTC also support their users very well, providing regular updates and patches for their mobile operating systems and handsets. The Sense UI being used on the latest handsets is especially good, both user-friendly and well-featured. Furthermore, HTC handsets tend to include lots of extra features which you just don't get on many other phones.
