Lies, Excuses, Unreturned Calls, No Sign Of Refund

Completely useless and very dodgey. Avoid at all costs. A bit of research shows I'm not the only one to have issues.

I ordered a pair of doors costing almost £2000. They arrived over a week late. When they did arrive the frame was for a different size door so I had to get a carpenter to fix at my own cost.

The lock packs did not arrive with the doors. After a call a day and many lies and excuses from the useless owner ONE lock pack came another week or so later. I then put up with ANOTHER week or two of unreturned calls, excuses and flat out lies and have now given up on the second arriving and have bought my own lock packs. During this debacle I was told by the owner that I would be getting a £50 refund as an apology but this never arrived.

Almost two months now and I still have a hole in the back of my house. Calls and emails are unanswered.

Stay clear. The company will not be there much longer and dealing with him is like speaking to a 5-year-old.

Go There At Your Peril!

ordered doors to value of £1000, at time of order told delivery would be 10-14 days. after six weeks and several chase up phone calls cancelled order as no delivery date could be given. refund to card agreed and time scale of 7-10 days. we are nowinto 4th week of waiting for refund, chased up last week, said they would sort things. now making claim through credit card.

all in all, very plausable when dealing with order and chasing up, but companies like this are!

PS only gave one star as i couldn't leave blank

Don't Go There!

I have written a review on this website before about a company called Wooden Doors who used to sell his doors from the Seedbed Centre Wyncolls Road Colchester, I had sent this company e-mails and a recorded delivery letter to the above address of which I found that they had moved.

I tracked them down to their new premises at 122 Connaught Avenue Frinton on sea and sent them another letter giving them 7 days notice to respond, they have not, I did state the supply of goods and services act 1982, but they may as well have laughed in my face because I still have had no response.

I was going to wipe my hands of this and try to repair the door ourselves, but find when looking at the door it now has revealed a crack onlong the bottom, I feel that this company is taking people for fools, so therefore, I have written another letter today which I shall hand deliver in person, I don't suppose I will get any response or offer of a replacement door, so therefore I will do as advised by a legal adviser and get a quote from an independant company and have them repair or replace it, after the work is carried out I will then send wooden doors the bill!

No Door, No Refund Either.

Why this company still shows 5 stars is beyond me. I ordered a door on 13 March. Three weeks later I cancelled the order as I could wait no longer. A refund was promised but has yet to materialize (now 4 May). Reading other reviews it seems I am not alone in a disappointing experience which so far has left me over £150 out of pocket.

Wooden Doors Ltd (colchester) - Great Advice & Service

having seen other reviews linked to the domain name wooden doors.co.uk, I contacted Wooden Doors Ltd to query my intended order. I'm glad I did. The owner, Chris, explained that he had bought the domain name from the previous company who had gone into liquidation. He was able to advise me on my choice of door, how to treat & prepare it for installation, & was so appreciative of my concern about other reviews, he offered to accept a 10% deposit for my peace of mind. The door arrived completely as promised, delivered by Bradley who is also very knowledgable & polite. Don't be put off by out of date & irrelevant reviews elsewhere on this site. Our new Oak door (6 light stable door) is beautiful & we're looking forward to having it installed next week

Let us know if you get refunded I have paid wooden doors £1195.00 for a door which was fitted in November 2011, because the door is of poor qualtiy I have written 3 letters to the company, e-mailed and telephoned them, and have had no response, I have telephoned citizens advise, and spoken to a legal adviser, who has given me advice which I have followed, yet wooden doors has still not responded! it is not just the amounts customers are paying out which worries me, its the ignorance of the companies.

Two days ago I sent a snotty email giving them until Friday 24 May to refund or I would contact Trading Standards as well as the credit card companies as they are abusing the terms under which they are contracted.

A few minutes later one of those automated replies came and I thought, "S-d it! I'll phone them right now." Using the following number [removed] I spoke to the owner. He told me that he was being badly let down by his admin team and that he would do the refund right away. Reluctantly I gave him the credit card details, half expecting him to take a further £150, but in fairness to him the transfer was done.

Whether he had just read my email and though it cheaper to refund me than fight me, I shall never know.

But mine was a refund because he failed to deliver at all, so he might be trickier with customers who have had goods but feel they are not up to standard.

I have today emailed him and his supplier as follows:

I see from online reviews that I am not alone in my disappointment at your continued refusal to recompense me for the failure of your product to meet the terms and standards laid down in the Sale of Goods Act.

There is therefore sufficient cause and a concensus of like-minded disatisfied customers of yours to warrant reporting your company to Trading Standards. I shall also consider taking legal action

Unless I receive your response and recision payment of £200 as outlined in my e-mail of 13th February below and supported by the terms of the Sale of Goods Act, I shall take such action without further notice and actively encourage others to do the same.
