We bought a Pedrollo Top 2 submersible pump a year ago to assist us with drainage in our garden. The pump automatically switches on when the water reaches a certain level in the sump. It worked without issue for around a year but then suddenly started tripping the electrics in our house. We contacted Pedrollo who confirmed they would honour the warranty and asked us to return the pump to them, which we did at considerable expense.

We then heard nothing for a while so chased a number of times for an update and finally received this response, copied exactly as sent to us:

Apologies for the delay in replying to you. Attached are the photographs taken when we inspected your pump. The seal has failed and allowed water into the motor. This is not considered a manufacturing fault and as such is not covered by warranty. It is also our opinion that this pump is uneconomic to repair.

We can return the pump to you if you wish or dispose of it. Please advise how you wish us to proceed.

So please beware, Pedrollo do not consider a water seal failure to be a manufacturing fault, nor are they willing to repair it. It feels pretty fundamental to me, hence I am posting this review to ensure any consumers considering buying this product are aware of the limitations of the warranty, the poor quality of the seals used and the standard of service provided when a problem arises.
