If you have a Swallow (GB) Ltd Rook Potting Shed with optional guttering fitted, check out its ability to collect and remove rainwater.

I purchased a new Rook Potting Shed from Bourne Buildings, Farnham, Surrey, but within days, during moderate rainfall, water spilled over the rear edge of the guttering and down over the rear wooden wall panels.

Swallow have investigated but now say there is no problem with the design. However, they visited site three times, each time adjusting or experimenting with a different solution.

Despite Swallow seeing the problem for themselves, they have now walked away from the situation having provided a very untidy and unsatisfactory temporary solution. Pictures can be provided.

Why put this amount of effort into solving a problem that does not exist!!

I can only conclude, as far as Rain Water Removal is concerned, the standard Rook production models are ‘not fit for purpose’.

If you have the same model of Potting Shed from Swallow (GB) Ltd, then presumably, the same problem exists. You will also need Swallow (GB) Ltd to come up with a fix.

We just need our Supplier (Swallow (GB) Ltd) to act responsibly and design or engineer a proper long term remedy, for the benefit of ALL.

Visited Bourne Buildings when garden centres were opening up during the relaxation of Lockdown. The measures in place were excellent.

They have a fantastic range of buildings already erected and fitted and in different finishes.

The staff were very helpful and we placed an order with them for a Greenhouse to be supplied and fitted.

The greenhouse supplier was late in delivery but this did not matter and gave us a bit of extra time to ensure everything was correct prior to the installer arriving.

Their recommended installer did a wonderful job and asked us where we wanted and provided advice on the location of the vents etc.

He saved us a lot of effort in the installation, if we had carried out the installation I was concerned about getting it right, although I did do the groundworks - excavation, edging, hardcore, plastic mesh infilled with gravel.

As we had supplied and installed a plastic 10mm gravel filled base on hardcore we were able to install the cut to size paving slabs bedded in quick drying mortar when the installer had constructed the integral greenhouse base and in the locations he wanted the slabs for his fixings and to withstand wind loads. We did not delay the installer's work/progress.

No mess was left upon completion of the installation and any useful spares and he manuals were left.

We would recommend visiting Bourne Buildings Showground at prior to making any decisions. Their advice, after sales service and their greenhouse installer was superb.

I received my TopWood shed last friday. Fantastic quality. It is so much better than the old shed from Homebase. Very happy. And it was great that it could be made to the exact size to make the most of the space by the back gate 7 foot x 4 foot 6 inches. (I did buy 4 x 7 foot fence posts to make a more stable base).

Ordered a 8x6 foot shed, over the phone from Bourne Buildings. I rang them because their website is so antiquated that it does not contain prices. Because I was in a rush I placed the order over the phone there and then, thinking I would be dealing with a trustworthy, reputable firm.

Having laid the concrete base to that size, when it arrived I found that it was actually 5'9"x7'9" - exactly 3 inches short in both measurements.

When I discussed this with them, I was told, initially that the discrepancy was because sheds were marketed in imperial, but wood comes in metric (that doesn't explain why it was exactly 3 inches short in both dimensions!), and I quote, that 'I had made incorrect assumptions about this' - I ordered a 8'x6' shed, nothing else assumed! I was finally told that if I wasn't happy they would come and take it back, after I'd had to put the thing up, of course.

The only good thing I can say about this transaction was that the delivery chaps were nice and helpful.

All in all, I would not recommend buying a £500 shed from them, god forbid anything more expensive. This situation could have been resolved so easily but their resolute refusal to take any responsibility left a nasty bad taste. If you're thinking about buying from them then spare yourself, don't bother!

Bought two lovely old stone pots for the garden and we are really pleased with them.

There was a huge selection at Bourne to choose from - both new and old in greyer tones as well as creamier tones.

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful and carried the pots to the car for me even though I probably could have managed. The office staff were also very helpful.

I am thrilled with my new greenhouse. It arrived at the time expected, was swiftly erected and I was able to start using it the same day. It looks great and enhances my garden and I am looking forward many happy pottering days to come this winter. Thank you Bourne Buildings.

Fantastic service from beginning to end. Not knowing what we really wanted when we arrived the staff couldn't have been more helpful in finding the right shed to use as a day time retreat for some canine lodgers & later to become a craft workshop. The assembly team arrived on the arranged date & completed the work efficiently, quickly & with good humour considering the torrential rain they were working in. I would certainly recommend Bourne Buildings as the place to go if in doubt about which shed to select!

The whole experience of buying a shed was excellent there was no pressure to buy the most expensive shed.Knowledge and explanation of products I couldn't fault.Staff were extremely efficient and very helpful from buying to having the base laid and the assembly.Everyone was very polite and efficient.

I purchased a table and chairs for my balcony, with a natural stone tile top, which are still going strong after 6 years. Have also been back for a few stone ornaments as well of which they have an amazing selection at the showsite.

Always polite and helpful so can highly recommend.

I needed to replace the top detailing - platform and acorns - of an old summerhouse supplied by Bourne many years ago. They could not have been more helpful and even managed to get the correct size which was no longer in general production from the manufacturer because of the good relationship they enjoy with them. I am delighted to say that I enjoyed good, old fashioned friendly service from the team there and wont hesitate to recommend the company to my friends and colleagues.
